Had debated on posting this, as I touched a platter at one point and caused a delay, but to be honest I like the rest of it too much not to post it!  I'm pretty proud of myself, and continue to find my mixing style and sound.  It's evolved so much and I never thought I'd be here.  

I'm incredibly incredibly partial to juggling and cut mixes.  Since DnB is so heavily reliant on DJ culture and lends itself to prolonged layering, juggling between multiple tracks (in my case, only 2, as it's simply a 2 channel beginner controller) just adds such a fun dynamic.  

This mix was a serious journey for me emotionally.  As the first track says, Listen Carefully.  Hope yall enjoy <3

11.29 - Escape

I'm baaaaaaaaack!  I've been incredibly ill for around 2 weeks now, and today was the first day my head didn't feel like it was in a fish bowl, so of course I had to go in for a mix!  Still not 100%, but feeling a hell of a lot better.

For this mix, I wanted to do something different.  A lot of my mixes are high energy and neuro centric.  With this mix, I wanted to focus more on soundscapes, texture and a general sense of mood that reflects where I've been lately.  Whereas most of what I do is probably geared more towards a workout, this is introspective and probably a hell of a soundtrack for a stoner.  Not perfect (is anything ever?) but I quite enjoy it.

Here In My Mind

I think most of us who are into drum and bass LOVE a good neurofunk tune.  The energy it emits and just the rawness of it.  But what I love about the genre of drum and bass, and why I fell in love with it 20+ years ago, is the diversity it possesses and its distinct methods of conveying emotion.  That's what this set is for me, a display of the depth of this genre and how it can not only make you want to fuck shit up, but have a good cry or contemplate what's going on in your life.  This mix might motivate some people, but if I can make you think about yourself, your surroundings and the world we occupy, including those we love or have loved, I've done my job on this one.  

This genre of music means the world to me and elicits deep, emotional reactions.  I cried during my livestream the other night as I played a tune;  It's that serious for me.  I hope you allow yourself to get lost in it a bit.  Not a perfect mix, but seldom is when youre pulling in the moment and not pre-planning.  Enjoy.

3.25 - Switch

This is one of my absolute favorite mixes I've ever done!  My friend Kiitarie just recently turned 21 and requested a mix for her birthday.  She sent me 20ish tracks and I filled in blanks with stuff I knew she'd be into.  I really, really set out to push myself with some concepts I have not done previously.  A pre-planned mix is not something I have a lot of experience with and it was far more worrisome than just playing!  Overall, I'm probably north of 20 hours JUST working on this mix, and I'm very very proud of the outcome.  The final version of this mix that she received also included personalized messages from all her closest friends, which have been omitted here.  Sorry but it was really fucking cute so I had to mention it.  

I love the fact that it contains every style of DnB and allowed me to show that you don't have to funnel yourself into one style and, hopefully, how to use various styles for suspense and building on my foundation of Neurofunk (All Day, Err Day)

Kiit's Cunty Bday Mix

While most of my mixes go on the heavier side, this leans more towards the weird and intricate.   I've really leaned into the deep, weirder side of DnB. The side that makes you feel stoned even if you're not.  The side that makes you contemplate life decisions.  The side that causes you to feel void of the narration of a vocal.  I definitely started to drift towards the Neuro side but rather quickly pulled back to where I wanted to be.

As always, this isn't pre-planned, just me hitting record and playing some tunes.  I hope you vibe with it.  While definitely some play around bass, this is rather heavy on the highs and mids with a lot of tribal drums.

Self-Indulgence

Deep.  Dark.  Dirty.  

Have a lot going on in my mind and life, so decided to hit record and see what happens.  Generally when I DJ, I'm in a complete flowstate.  I can't confess to knowing every single track in my library by heart, so I just go on feel, and nearly every time the mix ends up reflecting how I'm feeling in that moment.  It's therapeutic.  

Rekordbox glitches out a few times, which admittedly threw me off (and you can hear it in the mix tbh).  Regardless, quite enjoy this one.

Bit moody on this one!

Been itching to do a stream devoted entirely to these styles as I almost always go into Neurofunk.  You'll hear me duck audio a few times, which is me speaking on stream and a habit I'm trying to break.  Doesn't really happen a lot, but it is there.  Vocal on Vocal a few times, which I hate, but happens sometimes when you're just doing shit on the fly .  

This is all about vibin honestly.  Touch of Halftime thrown in for the tempo switch up.  Lot of texture play and, hopefully, progressions through more chill shit and some upbeat fun thrown in for good measure.  If you dig it, throw a comment!
