A catchy, soulful tune (echoing the popular 1990’s style of R&B) by Hamilton’s female reggae trio NRG Rising (Benita Tahuri), released on March 16th, under the title ‘Take Us High’.  The track is produced by the Vodafone Best Roots Artist Award winner Israel Starr.

The mother and daughter reggae trio first flowed into the music scene with their debut album, ‘From Darkness to Light’ in 2011, and have grown a strong, loyal following ever since through their engaging live shows and performances.

Now with years of experience, maturity in song composition, hundreds of live shows, national tours and two international tours to the USA, they are back with this single.

The ‘Take Us High’ video produced by NZ hip hop legend Dei Hamo releases on 23rd March, followed by NRG’s subsequent album in May 2018

The sequel to From Darkness to Light the mother/daughters’ trio, NRG Rising ‘Say Yes to Life’ was released in June 2018 

With Israel Starr of ‘Bless up Music’ in the executive producer’s seat, ‘Say Yes to Life’ showcases the sassy reggae and RnB style we know well from NRG Rising.

Reminiscent of the smooth RnB of the 90’s ‘Take Us High’ was the first single to come from ‘Say Yes To Life’.

This 12-track album features some of Aotearoa top reggae and roots artists such as Che Fu, Israel Starr and Lion Rezz to name a few. NRG Rising have an ethos of motivating, encouraging and inspiring listeners to live life to their full potential. ‘Say Yes to Life’ is a celebration of life, living in your passion and always rising even when you may fall. They hope that their music, brings inspiration, hope and encouragement even when going through a difficult time and battling with the undertows of learned behaviour that can hold you back. Say Yes to Life, make a conscious decision while riding out the rough times in life.

NRG represented Aotearoa as the headline international artist at the ‘Gathering of Nations Pow Wow’ recently in the USA followed by a South-Western tour of the states. While in USA visiting to the Tamaya Nation in New Mexico and the Grand Canyon, where NRG Rising filmed the music video for their most recent roots single called ‘Revelation Steppers’ ft. Israel Starr. Both of their recent video releases were produced and directed by NZ Hip Hop legend Dei Hamo. 

This trio is all about standing in the strong positive feminine energy and passion. Their music evokes feeling and thoughts that has and does lead to actions that transforms lives. It is very clear from this album and the theme of love that it is saying YES to life, and when you do all things becomes possible.

Free The Moko - Artists And Musicians Collaborate To Support Families of Tame Iti & Rangi Kemara

Established conscious artists and musicians from Aotearoa/NZ and the world have joined together to speak out against injustice and show their support for the families of Tame Iti and Rangikaiwhiria Kemara. Both men are incarcerated here in Aotearoa on "unlawful possession of firearms" charges with an unjust sentence of 2.5 years each.

The pair are facing huge looming legal costs as the case is brought before the Court of Appeal on 22 August 2012 to fight the injustice served.

Over 50 participants across varying artforms have collaborated to combine their skills and produce a limited edition music CD as well as tshirts, donating the proceeds to support the families of Tame and Rangi. Some of the proceeds will be used to off-set the high costs of the Appeal.

"Conscious Uprising" is a 12-track CD involving brand new roots, hip hop, reggae and spoken word material from artists that include David Grace, Tama Waipara, Emma Paki, Te Kupu, MC Wiya, Maisey Rika, Nat Rose, Majic & Robbie Paora, MC Tipene, Katz Maihi, Tribal ConexioNZ, Anatonio Te Maioha, NRG Rising, Michael Franti, Tiki Taane and more.

As an exclusive release, only 100 copies of the compilation will be available - each one signed by Tame Iti (from inside Waikeria Prison).
