Excited to be hosting a b2b between two important figures for a special next addition in our NSMA-MIX series. @banoffee-pies head honcho @autumn-bpr goes b2b with @jessica_dj of the @rhythm_sister collective for a spin down memory lane, as they re-visit their Drum & Bass roots. 

Long-affiliated with the Bristolian underground, the duo founded @headroom_dance Festival just around the corner in Abergavenny, Wales in 2019. The festival has a forward-facing policy which makes a conscious effort to create an inclusive dancefloor by weighting ticket distribution heavily towards women, trans and non-binary folk. 

Both known for their wide and eclectic crates, sink into this as we welcome in the weekend 🥁

Hailing from Sheffield – a cultural hub for UK underground sound, having birthed bleep techno and many electronic stalwarts such as WARP – @unpersonuk has quickly defined his own unique lane of deeply atmospheric and percussive bass-laden electronics. FAE's spirited sets of UK focused bass-weight and garage skips have been turning heads from London to Leeds for a hot minute by now, but with recent sets at The Cause, Wigflex, Keep Hush & more things are looking like they're only just getting started for this newcomer. Her NSMA MIX is a rich and brooding canvas of club energy that makes its near impossible to not get why she's one of London's best kept secrets. If you're tuning in from elsewhere, take note. Our first mix comes from London-based experimental composer, Nicholas Worrall aka @Wordcolour. 

An exhilarating hour of bright, moody textures and intricate electronics. 

Where his exceptional 'Blowing Up The Workshop' mix, was an intimate manifession of ambient-led sounds coloured with ASMR and vintage film samples (and lauded as RA’s Mix of the Day & Pitchfork's Best 20 Mixes of 2019 no less), here he flexes a more grittier selection of tracks destined for peak-time club listening.

Our second mix comes from Lithuanian-born, London-based, composer & producer Ieva Vaiti - aka @pikselsound.

Between co-directing the multimedia art collective Syntrex, scoring films for Prada and producing hypnotic sound-design under the Piksel moniker, Ieva has been attentively developing a pallet for swarming synths and obscure textured beats found in every-day sounds, capturing not only our attention, but also that of contemporaries Object Blue and Machine Woman.

Jo produces a lush mix of down-tempo gems across 64mins, so meticulous in her selection. Whilst flexing her immaculate taste in dub-techno, 90's hip-hop and dubstep, Jo perfectly emulates the sometimes anxious, sometimes optimistic, feelings of being self-isolated.

Pressure Dome head honcho @Yushh pops by for a chat and to deliver NSMA-MIX-014 today, having become one of the most inspiring new forces in the UK Underground with her intricate brand of low-end electronics and ear for refreshing production talents. 

Yushh dropped a lethal weapon in ‘Team Boot’ earlier this year (shouts to the Woozy crew @emma-jane-g & @sputnik_one) and continues to fight on the frontline in Bristol, as her collaborations with Syz begin to see the light of day and following a brilliant recent release on her imprint from Delay Grounds (featuring a rude Suze remix). Having recently dropped his 'Reconstructed Club' EP on UK bass weight up-comers Control Freak Recordings following a brilliant collaboration with Max Winter on Or:la’s Cead label in 2020, @Keplrr jumps into the deep end with 1hr of techy, rolling club gear and low end sonics to prime us all for Boris' long-awaited club return this June. And by club we mean merky sweatbox basement, hopefully.

Recently announced for a residency at Sheffield’s institution Hope Works (the first club he ever went out to, *applause* please), this next NSMA-MIX from @porterbrook has been in the tank for a hot minute but we’ve saved it for a special occasion – as we strike our 20th mix in the series! At the helm of the Groundwork parties, Porter has become known as a party starter in Sheffield (past sets alongside Bruce, Batu, Re:ni, Laksa etc.) and is a extremely talented producer, having put out a handful of brilliantly versatile bass-heavy eclecticism via Intervention, Electroménager and his own label. Today though, it’s mostly dnb weapons… no worries.

Sheffield has a long, storied track record for producing stellar electronic music, and unperson is another talented artist to emerge from the Steel City. Earning previous support from the likes of Call Super, Bruce and India Jordan, unperson is a rising figure in the underground dance circuit. Following his 'The Ghosts That Gave' EP, we're thrilled to be premiering 'In Your Own Time' below, a track built from shimmering pads and juddering Amens. unperson describes the track as "a hazy head-nodder built to occupy the murky corners of the (virtual) club. 'In Your Own Time' is spaced out sound system music, reflecting a hopeful kind of yearning.”
