Even though The Posthumous Love Act's debut album will be essentially a rock album with different types of rock incorporated into it, I felt that I had to lower myself to a more personal, intimate level with my listeners and give them a side of me that they were not accustomed to hearing. Nothing about this song is autobiographical; it's abstract in nature in the sense that it may take a few spins for the listener to truly grasp what the storyteller is trying to say. Though it contains science fiction undertones, 'Heart-Shaped World' embodies the intensity of a ballad all the while painting specific scenes in which the listeners will find themselves immersed in as they are described in real time throughout the track.
