Over the last three years Pete Josef became something like Sonar Kollektiv's in-house singer by choice. Guest appearances and collaborations on albums by Alex Barck, ComixXx and Paskal & Urban Absolutes established the golden tonsils from Bristol as one of the stellar voices of the Berlin based label. Now his first official solo EP, “Colour”, sees the light of day. Four tracks that display impressively his vocal virtuosity on one hand and his profound songwriting skills on the other hand. The title track “Colour” shifts away from the club orientated productions Josef is normally involved in and shows that his music is domiciled in the emotional, organic pop and blue-eyed soul genre. Just as calm, mature and graceful, “The Travelling Song” swings along and warbles gently out of your speakers. A touch of jazz in-between the Brazilian influenced percussion provides the song with the feeling of an endless summer. That's exactly the sound Sonar Kollektiv is famous for in ages.

The first time Pete Josef caught attention was together with Darren Emerson as The White Lamp. Their club hit “Make It Good” was released in 2012 on Sonar Kollektiv. Now Josef surprises us with his very own, distinctive, acoustic cover version. Far away from the original the song suddenly sounds if it was penned by Mark Ronson or blessed by the Daptones. Even Mayer Hawthorne would be more than happy with a backbeat as merciless funky as this. Finally we are served with a remix of “Colour” by newcomer Glow In The Dark. To pigeonhole it in a music journalistic way is physical impossible. Maybe that's the reason why the A&R department at Sonar Kollektiv will release a full album with Glow In The Dark productions in early 2016. But first we will enjoy this lovely EP in an eternal loop.

The second single taken from The James L’Estraunge Orchestra’s dazzling debut album ‘Eventual Reality’, ‘See You Tonight’ is a sensitive and introspective jazz ballad. Lush orchestral arrangements, mournful muted horns and acoustic guitars underpin a heartfelt vocal performance by artist Ricky Reid. The song’s disarmingly honest lyrics explore a junction between past and present, reconciling both in a moving tribute to those special people who help us choose a better path in life.

Enjoying early support from Craig Charles, Gilles Peterson and a host of other tastemakers, The James L’Estraunge Orchestra is a shadowy band pieced together from a series of late night studio sessions by multi-instrumentalist Ricky Reid. One half of Soul Renegades as well as supplying keys and vocals for 6th Borough Project, Ricky has long been a stalwart of Scotland’s dance and jazz music scenes. Composed and recorded in Ricky’s remote cabin in the Scottish wilderness, album ‘Eventual Reality’ is the product of a prodigiously talented artist allowing himself the time and space to explore the full expanse of his imagination.

Saxophonist, producer and singer-songwriter ​Laura Misch​ (@laura-emma-misch) releases her brand new single "Lagoon". Laura’s​ ​main instrument is saxophone, and her particular focus has been using electronics to generate saxophone soundscapes. She makes both instrumental music and songs primarily on the cyclical themes of: connection, presence and release, the saxophone threads throughout everything.

In her own words Laura says, “Lagoon is a meditation on relationship and environment. When I thought about what type of environment I would like to be for other people, I gravitated towards a lagoon because of its restorative qualities. The world feels so hectic and the idea that through through creativity we can construct alternative realities feels really vital. That's why I make music, because you can construct these sonic environments for people to be transported too. Lagoon is meant to be this big sonic hug.”
