The Nuances De Nuit series has been steady truckin' in the deep and tech house department since 2019. The label made its first move beyond various artist 12"s last time with a drop from T. Jacques, but now they're back to their showcase standard with this plentiful spread. Man / Ipulate leads in with the sultry, organ-led early 90s house stylings of 'Why Don't You Move', which sets up Yamen & EDA perfectly for the similarly styled, slightly ravier 'Spectraculaire'. Don't overlook the woozy magic of Cosmic JD's 'Modal Injury', which might well be the best joint on this EP of classy vibe tweakers

London label Nuances de Nuit have been releasing fire since they started a short time ago back in 2019. The platform celebrates local talent the likes of Mitch Wellings, Mehlor and Le Louche. More established families also feature, namely the Small Hours crew – already Liquid Earth and Huerta have made their stamp on the label, with Youandewan in tow. The latest instalment marks the first solo EP and it comes from T. Jacques.

The label co-founder was last seen on the label as part of a series of VA’s. NUIT003 quickly topped the record charts, crying out for a much needed repress. Jacques’ ‘Control’ sat suitably alongside Metro’s classic banger ‘Here For The Love’ (Metropolitan Acid Mix). Now the London lad is finally releasing his own EP and it’s set to be another bomb. Co-founded by T. Jacques and Lucy Crocker in 2019, Nuances de Nuit has gradually established itself as the go-to label for 90s influenced house sonorities, featuring mainly UK and French rising producers from the underground scene. Mid July sees the launch of the new vinyl only Nuances De Nuit imprint with ‘Vol.1’, a four-track various artists package featuring DJ Steaw, Armless Kid, T. Jacques and E.Wan.

Described as ‘’An international project of like minds – For the dancers’’ the new Nuances De Nuit imprint will deliver a cross-section of raw, intricate electronic sounds and inaugurates the imprint here with some esteemed Parisian producers and some up and comers on the flip.

Fresh off the bat of his debut LP on his own Rutilance and a remix of Point G, DJ Steaw delivers ‘Vertigo’, a typically dance floor focused affair from the Parisian fusing raw drums with organ stab sequences and airy pads. Traxx Underground artist Armless Kid then edges into Electro realms with his ‘Untitled’ offering, shining light on crunchy 808 percussion, squelchy acid licks and resonant synth flutters.

Label co-founder T. Jacques turns in ‘Context’ next, fuelled by heavily swung, skippy drums whilst modulating synths, intricate multilayered melodies and pad swells wander within. E.Wan then rounds things out on a deeper tip with ‘Twice’, a perfect closer employing ethereal atmospheric textures and thunderous low-end tones alongside a dusty drum groove.

Nuances De Nuit returns with its second release late October, another various artist package featuring cuts from Politics Of Dancing, Akyra, Karaba and Cosmic JD & Zenta.

The Nuances De Nuit imprint was launched in July of this year with a four track VA from DJ Steaw, Armless Kid, T. Jacques and E.Wan, perfectly setting the tone for the labels aesthetic, which leans towards dusty drums, tripped-out synths and hypnotic grooves. Here the label continues this theme as it returns with four more stripped-back, dance floor focused workouts.

Politics Of Dancing’s ‘When The Morning Comes’ takes the lead on the package, an apt name to set the scenery for this 6am sunrise groove, fuelled by rising chord sequences, tension building strings and bright piano licks. Akyra’s ‘Rizla’ follows, taking things deeper courtesy of swirling ethereal pads; bubbling arpeggio swells, wandering subs and skippy, swinging percussion.

Chikyu-u Records artist Karaba steps up next with ‘Floating Mind’, fusing choppy bass hits, dubbed out chords and robust drums before Canadian artist and Hypnotic Mindscapes founder Cosmic JD joins Zenta for ‘Spencer Landoff’, an electro-tinged cut featuring fluttering electronic pulses, entrancing pads and bumpy bass hits alongside a crunchy rhythmic drive.
