Before we dive into the latest episode, let's first take a brief look at Lofi Radio and what it offers to its listeners. The show is a music podcast that features a variety of producers, musicians, and artists from around the world. The aim is to showcase the producer in a overview of both new tracks, older tracks and also some work in progress - the vibe is chill and laid-back, with a focus on hip-hop, jazz, and a positive vibe in the community.

A producer that’s been alongside the tribe for a very long time – He is one of the most versatile producers out there, making both smooth beats & jazzy laidback grooves while still able to switch it up to uptempo tracks with inspiration from the house community but also the underground scene of pop & electronic stuff. This volume pulls from material written as far back as the early 1990s and recontextualizes it through modern production, contemporary vocal treatment, and today’s emotional lens. These songs weren’t resurrected for nostalgia — they were refined, sharpened, and finally delivered the way they were always meant to be heard.
From the opening moments of “Break Free” — a love declaration born on a TASCAM four-track — to the closing clarity of “X Mind,” Vol. 6 moves effortlessly between funk, soul, satire, romance, social commentary, and reflection. Tracks like “Don’t Stop Y’all” hide cultural Easter eggs and political winks inside a bounce-heavy groove, while “Hero” questions myth, faith, and symbolism through a modern lens inspired by ancient history and pop culture.
This project also represents a clear stance:
Technology is a tool, not a substitute.
Several songs on Vol. 6 previously existed in earlier forms that went unheard. Here, modern production techniques elevate—not replace—the original human intent. The result is proof that when creativity leads and tools follow, the music wins.

“Madame Guru” — a taboo, Prince-inspired funk meditation
“Painless” — a lifelong anthem shaped by rehearsal rooms, live performance, and late-night television
“Push Up” — a real-life encouragement story turned into an empowerment record
“Silly Soul Lovers” — late-night basslines, spoken poetry, and unfiltered intimacy
“Sweet Brother” — social commentary rewritten for 2025 with clarity and responsibility

Nubiyan Twist are a Leeds born, London based musical collective. Orchestrated by guitarist/producer Tom Excell, they create a unique, infectious sound in an eclectic mix of styles, drawing on jazz, hip-hop, afrobeat, latin, soul, reggae and dance music.  

With a 10 piece live show featuring a 4 piece horn section, vocalists, electronics and an international (Brazil/UK) rhythm section, Nubiyan Twist create a powerful and unforgettable experience.  

Their debut album received strong support across the Jazz, World music and Hip-hop press, with support from sources as diverse as Huey Morgan, David Rodigan, Craig Charles, The Independent, Songlines, Afropunk and SBTV. This was followed up with Siren Song in May 2016.

The band have performed on huge stages across the world, being chosen by David Byrne to perform at Queen Elizabeth Hall for the south bank’s Meltdown festival, selling out London’s iconic Jazz Cafe, and rocking festival stages from Fusion to Wilderness, Boomtown to Edinburgh Jazz Festival, with their powerful sound and unique blend of styles.
