We are super glad to present you our next and 12th EthnoKaster: Flavya, or https://soundcloud.com/dj-flavya is a Brazilian-American music producer & selector, who recently became part of the https://soundcloud.com/sonidotropico family. She is now linking more than ever the alternative music scenes of New York City (US) and São Paulo (BR), helped by her familial roots in both countries.

Flavya's eclectic style is based on grooves of music from traditional cultures around the world, with a special focus on Brazilian and Latin music: born in Europe, raised in both the United States and Brazil, Flavya is no stranger to multicultural experiences, living in diverse neighborhoods and being exposed to many different music communities.

VENGA VENGA e FurmigaDub

Seres Hibridos, o segundo EP da Venga Venga, é ritmado pela sonoridade do grave brasileiro e mistura influencias regionais aos beats envolventes da música eletrónica. Uma viagem por ritmos globais, do house aa funk, do afrobeat ao maracatu e do dub ao baião. 

Produzido em São Paulo em parceria com o músico paraíbano Furmigadub, e lançado entre Portugal e Brasil, Seres Híbridos é composto de 5 canções: três inéditas e um cover, para além da já conhecida "Caboclo Presidente". As 5 canções compõem o olhar da dupla queer sobre Brasil de hoje, devastado pelas crises políticas e sociais, num mundo onde a intolerância e o conservadorismo avançam. 

A frenética “Mama”, é a música mais dançante e também mais política, sendo entoada como um mantra, que faz alusão à constante exploração do Brasil por seu próprio sistema corrupto, e pelo capitalismo mundial, afinal "todos querem mamar nas tetas da Mãe Brasil”.  

“Cura”, uma crítica ao absurdo da terapia de reorientação sexual e a disseminação atual dessa ideia como validação da homofobia - verdadeira doença social que precisa ser curada. A contemplativa “Quem”, é um dub espacial que fala das escolhas e que coloca a questão de quem assume tais escolhas. O EP encerra-se com o cover de “Longarinas”, música do artista cearense Ednardo, numa versão que cruza o maracutu cearence com o movimento hipnótico das sonoridades árabes.

O trabalho ainda conta com as guitarras e as rabecas do próprio Furmigadub, os timbais do percussionista baiano Mamá e as vozes da brasiliense Ella Nepomuceno e do trio Coco de Oyá.

EP “Seres Híbridos” (Hybrid Beings) - produced by Furmigadub

Seres Híbridos, Venga Venga's second EP, is paced by the sound of Brazilian bass and mixes regional influences with the engaging beats of electronic music. A journey through global rhythms, from house to funk, from afrobeat to maracatu and from dub to baião.

Produced in São Paulo in partnership with Paraiba musician Furmigadub, and released between Portugal and Brazil, Seres Híbridos is composed of 5 songs: three unreleased and one cover, in addition to the already known "Caboclo Presidente". The 5 songs make up the queer duo's view of Brazil today, devastated by political and social crises, in a world where intolerance and conservatism advance.

The frantic "Mama" is the most dancing and also the most political song, being sung as a mantra, alluding to the constant exploitation of Brazil by its own corrupt system, and by world capitalism, after all "everyone wants to suck on Brazil Mother's teats".

“Cura” (Healing), a critique of the absurdity of sexual reorientation therapy and the current spread of this idea as validation of homophobia - a true social disease that needs to be cured. The contemplative "Quem" (Who) is a space dub that speaks of choices and raises the question of who assumes those choices. The EP ends with the cover of “Longarinas”, music by Ceará artist Ednardo, in a version that crosses the maracutu cearence with the hypnotic movement of the Arabic sonorities.

The work also includes the guitars and “rabecas” of Furmigadub himself, the timbais of the Bahian percussionist Mamá and the voices of Brazilian singer Ella Nepomuceno and of the trio Coco de Oyá.

focado em downtempo e adepto do live-editing e do live-mashup, os sets de perrengue são sempre pontuados pela linha ritmica, pelas camadas de loops percussivos e efeitos concatenados. Produtor de festas e parte de alguns coletivos desde 2014, seus sets já passaram por diversas festas clássicas do underground paulistano como voodoohop, ¡venga-venga!, MBR, festival órbita, debut, pilantragi e blum e de diversas novas festas do cenário de downtempo e de brasilidades de são paulo. É um dos fundadores do coletivo Quack! que há dois anos tem fomentado uma cena underground de downtempo e sido palco de diversos novos djs, seja nas suas festas no Ninho, como em festas de rua, em festivais pelo Brasil como o SpnaRua, Respect, e outros, e que recentemente tem mantido eventos online pelo zoom e pelo twitch unindo diversos atores do downtempo do Brasil inteiro semanalmente.

Para esse set a idéia era tocar algo que ele não toca normalmente e isso foi complicado para alguém que toca de shakira à stockhausen num mesmo set, mas o que saiu segundo o mesmo é que "pode parecer que esse set é prova de versatilidade, mas no máximo é prova de doidiça mesmo". partindo originalmente de elementos do jazz, o set acabou sendo ampliado para outras coisas que refletiram muito mais um gosto pessoal, vindo de coisas que fazem parte de sua formação musical de muito antes dele pensar em ser dj, com a vontade de encaixar esse recorte musical num espaço de escuta diferente de uma pista - mas que nada é muito além de só tocar música que ele gosta. Se normalmente seus sets são sempre no improviso e tocando o que dá na telha na hora, esse mesmo sendo diferente, não podia muito fugir disso.

Focused on downtempo and adept at live-editing and live-mashup, the Perrengue sets are always punctuated by the rhythmic line, the layers of percussive loops and concatenated effects. Producer of parties and part of some collectives since 2014, his sets have gone through several classic parties of São Paulo underground like voodoohop, ¡venga-venga !, MBR, Festival Órbita, debut, pilantragi and blum and several new parties in the downtempo scene and brasilidades from São Paulo. He is one of the founders of the coletivo Quack! which has been promoting an underground downtempo scene for two years and has been the stage for several new DJs, whether at their parties at the Ninho, as at street parties, at festivals in Brazil such as SPnaRua, Respect, and others, and which has recently maintained online events by zoom and twitch, bringing together several actors from downtempo from all over Brazil weekly.

For this set the idea was to play something that he doesn't normally play and that was complicated for someone who plays from shakira to stockhausen in the same set, but what came out according to the same is that "it may seem that this set is proof of versatility, but at most it is really crazy proof ". departing originally from jazz elements, the set ended up being expanded to other things that reflected much more a personal taste, coming from things that were part of his musical formation from long before he thought of being a dj, with the desire to fit this musical frame in a listening space other than a track - but that is nothing more than just playing music he likes. If normally your sets are always on improvisation and playing what happens on the spot at the time, this one being different, I couldn't really escape it.

Astralles é uma DJ de São Paulo, co-criadora e residente do coletivo Quack e envolvida na cena eletrônica underground da cidade. Sempre instigada por experiências imersivas e psicodélicas, seus sets criam uma atmosfera envolvente e necessariamente dançante através de misturas inesperadas de downtempo com diferentes sonoridades do mundo. Astralles explora sons orgânicos, beats intensos e referências brasileiras, tribais e orientais, diversificando os elementos que compõe a música eletrônica e tornando a dança na pista (ou em casa) inevitável.  
Esse set foge do que toca normalmente nas pistas: mais introspectivo e livre, é focado no poder de cada canção e traz referências que vão da música experimental ao hip hop, numa espécie de viagem com várias paradas e paisagens distintas prontas para serem exploradas.

Astralles is a DJ from São Paulo, co-creator and resident of the coletivo Quack and involved in the underground electronic scene of the city. Always instigated by immersive and psychedelic experiences, her sets create an engaging and necessarily dancing atmosphere through unexpected mixtures of downtempo with different sounds from the world. Astralles explores organic sounds, intense beats and Brazilian, tribal and oriental references, diversifying the elements that make up electronic music and making dance on the floor (or at home) inevitable.
This set differs from what normally plays on the tracks: more introspective and free, is focused on the power of each song and brings references ranging from experimental music to hip hop, in a kind of trip with several stops and different landscapes ready to be explored.

Núcleo Gatopardo foi fundado por @gerragmusic para evocar uma cena de festa Downtempo em Curitiba, Brasil. O grupo evoluiu para um selo que lançou algumas das faixas mais badaladas do gênero house orgânico brasileiro.

Desde 2017, a Núcleo Gatopardo está construindo uma família rica e diversificada de downtempo no Sul do Brasil. Produzindo eventos e ajudando artistas independentes a evoluir e divulgar seus trabalhos para as pessoas. O selo acredita no potencial musical de seu país e incorpora muitos artistas não eletrônicos em seus projetos.
