Premier numéro d'Oratio, un retour aux sources, aux effets primaires de la musique, une valorisation de l'émotion à travers un voyage sensoriel. Pour cette première émission, une histoire vous sera racontée en deux chapitres. Tout d'abord par Speechmaker, co-fondateur d'Ethos Records, puis par Nessiel, membre actif du collectif Merci à Rennes et fondateur de Module, une émission diffusée sur Noods Radio. A travers cette diffusion seront exposées des tracks aux sonorités mystiques, planantes, et déstructurées.

A music producer since 2 decades, a vinyl DJ since 1 decade and a record shop owner since 3 years, Robyrt Hecht from Leipzig, Germany has touched on almost every aspect of the underground electronic music scene. Besides his label YUYAY Records and his involvement in the now defunct label and record shop Possblthings, he is founding member of Electro label and event crew Clear Memory. Additionally he co-founded the record shop Sleeve++. He's specialised in emotive Electro and IDM/Electronica with a bunch of robotic Funk added to the mix.

For our podcast he decided not to do a DJ mix, but instead he compiled a few of his unreleased tunes, dug up from old harddrives and polished them up for you to discover and enjoy.

Which artists has influenced you the most?

- Too many to make a concise list, but to name a few: Nachtzug, James Stinson, Mad Mike, DMX Krew, Dynarec, Dave Monolith ...

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- As always, several collaboration tracks on Clear Memory are in the pipeline. Also another track on Hilltown Disco.

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- I’m generally more interested in the past than the present, and I listen to most contemporary records after a while, because only then can you hear whether it's relevant or just a fad. But here, for example: I discovered the incredible work of Shook last year; the LP 'System' (EPI 018) is the perfect Future-Funk experience. Also Cygnus never disappoints.

What inspires you now to create music?

- Definitely working with my Clear Memory colleagues. We're a group of about a dozen people, half of whom are producers. Visiting their studios, working together on tracks and learning from each other is deeply inspiring.

What set-up do you use when creating music?

- I’m using a setup, which hasn't changed in probably a decade: Hardware as sound sources (Roland Alpha Juno-1, Korg MS-20, Doepfer MS404, MAM MB33, MAM VF-11 Vocoder, Yamaha E1010 Delay, …) and as a DAW I use Bitwig for composition, arrangements, FX and mixdown.

Strange But Dance Music #104: Robyrt Hecht

Phran is a DJ and producer from Caracas, Venezuela, residing in Barcelona, Spain. The Berlin label Klasse Wrecks has released three of his EPs, representing his raw, rave-influenced electro side. 

He also has a project called Dos Ritmos with Luca Lozano, presenting the duo’s shared appreciation for heavy percussion and worldly drums, sampled and mashed together to create a pan-national representation of polyrhythms and atmospherics.

He has also released on labels such as Hivern Discs and Butter Sessions.

Stevie Whisper aka Stefan Unkovic is a DJ/producer, promoter and visual artist from Belgrade. 

Raised in the vibrant hard-core scene of the early '00s, he came to be one of the pillars of the city's underground culture whose reputation started spreading beyond through work with SuperSizeShe, a collective he formed as a vehicle for bringing the independent music scene closer to his hometown, booking acts such as Ariel Pink, Mac De Marco, Dirty Beaches, The Soft Moon among many others. 

In recent years he invested more energy in flirting with different genres of contemporary club-oriented music, being a regular in the DJ booths of Belgrade's most prominent underground clubs - 20/44 and Drugstore, putting his own Yes nights as well as various events with his Mystic Stylez crew and recently got released under the Common Thread immprint from Rotterdam. 

Summer of 2018 saw Yes expanding it's operations by launching a record label. The inaugural release is a split 12" from A/O and Andria, a collaborator on two tracks from the label's second release by Whisper himself titled Donkey Milk. 

Stevie is not just leaning towards the dancefloor, he is firmly on it but the DIY ethos is never out of the frame.

Her sets take the audience on a sonic journey that never fails to excite. But Ivona’s love for music extends beyond the club scene. E.L.I. is the hardware-focused project of Mike Smith, aka Crossover Network, where he applies primitive machines and discordant vocals to his sound. He's blessing great labels with his sound such as Lifeforms, Exiled, MRT (Lux Rec). . He also has an upcoming prject with Up North Records label head, Lbeeze, as well as a release on a prominent Rotterdam-based label. Lock in for a an hour plus of bangin raw electronics from an upcoming talent.
