Von der ersten Idee, mal wieder eine musikalische Journey zu erzählen, über die Track-Auswahl, mehrere Aufnahme-Versuche bis zur finalen Version sind ca. 2 Monate vergangen und viele Stunden Zeit hineingeflossen.

Die Erstellung des Sets hat mich gut beschäftigt in den letzten Wochen und mich durch den bisherigen Herbst begleitet. 

Roadtrips, gute und schlechte Launen, verschiedenste Begegnungen und das Berauschen an den Herbstfarben sind mit in die Musik eingeflossen.

Am besten ihr gönnt ihr euch bisschen Auszeit in der Natur, genießt die letzten Sonnenstrahlen und erfreut euch am Farbenspiel.

Went into the mountains to finally record this set. 

Prepared it in the last couple of month, collecting songs and snippets to create a large pool of music to pick from, but didn't feel the right moment for a record session yet.
After some attempts I decided to take a time off to do it.

Sun was shining onto the terrace this Sunday Afternoon, and a beautiful mountain view inspired good vibes and positive energy.

After helping to build up the incredible nice stage Creatures Corner for almost 10 days I felt really connected to this magical place on the island. 

Having the opportunity to play the very first set on the stage and introduce our floor to the guests was a great moment for me :)
Sun was shining bright on this late afternoon, and my idea was to let everyone start smoothly into the festival. A warm welcome.

Everything that happened afterwards still leaves me speechless; the vibes, the people, the island itself, everything was so beautiful!

Thanks to all the collectives and people that took part to make this happen <3

Nugi | Creatures Corner Opening | Mystic Creatures Festival 2023

Edit for Besima of Side B from mononome's release entitled "Loralai".

I couldn't resist remixing Mononome's "Besima" when I first encountered its cheerful vibes. Enamored by the uplifting sample, I decided making a purposeful edit to seamlessly integrate it into my downtempo sets. 

This remix is not only a nod to Mononome's original work but also my way of infusing the track with a little bit more drive, ensuring it fits effortlessly into the flow of a downtempo set.

Nach einer langen Silvester Nacht durfte ich in den Morgenstunden auf dem Flucc Deck von 09:00–12:00 die Afterhour einleiten. 

Die Sonne brach immer wieder durch die Wolken und hüllte die vernebelte Tanzfläche in ein kräftiges Orange ein. 

Musikalisch wollte ich allen Gästen eine warme Umarmung geben und sie sanft wieder landen lassen. Ein smoother Start für's neue Jahr ✨

We all know this moment - you are lying in bed with a loved one and the world stands still.

You put on some music to set the scene for rising temperatures under the sheets…

The set you put on suddenly brings you out of rhythm, but getting up to skip the track is no longer an option.

We have been scouting for the perfect Sunday morning sets for quite a while already and while "Eigentlich heissen wir Klaus" & "Mattmosphere" have been steady suppliers of them for us, we also developed the idea of asking befriended artists to record one hour of music, to which they like to stay in bed with a loved one.

It's an intimate ask, but most of them said yes.

Jedes mal wieder ein Abenteuer, wenn wir drei uns sehen. Das passiert zwar nicht so oft, wird aber jedes mal episch unvorhersehbar.

Nach einer schönen Zeit beim Skalar Festival im Juni haben wir uns sehr gefreut wieder die lieben Leute zu treffen und die Festival Vibes im Kater Blau aufleben zu lassen!

Komplett spontan mit ohne Plan in dieses Set gestartet, es wurde zu einer swaggy Reise mit trolligen Einschüben, eine farbenfrohe Symbiose von drei Herzen.
Die Leute hätten nicht sweeter sein können, wir haben viel gelacht, getanzt und quatsch gemacht :D
Der Kuckuck durfte auch spontan länger aufbleiben – mehr Zeit zum sheeshen <3

For Schleichcast °54, we’re excited to present @nugimusic – a Vienna-based DJ and producer known for his passion for blending genres and moods; and this mixtape is another proof of this talent: it is what some people might describe as ‚original‘ downtempo - a slow-paced coalescence of musical diversity taking you through moments of melancholy, playfulness and dynamic grooves. Organic and percussive elements intertwine with some live-played saxophone tunes by Catherine aka @goldkettchen (how cool is that?!). 

Nugi’s transitions are effort- and seamless, yet they sometimes feel like unlocking new levels in a game or opening up new horizons while they move you from rather solemn soundscapes to lively, uplifting moments. This set is a warm, soul-soothing experience and we couldn’t wish for anything better to fit the cozy chill vibe in this time of the year.

>>Wer bist du und woher kommst du?
Ich bin Ben, ursprünglich aus der Nähe von München, aber seit fast 8 Jahren lebe ich in Wien. 

>>Wie kamst du zum Auflegen?
2008 hat mir ein Freund seine Plattenspieler gezeigt und mir das Auflegen beigebracht. Zuerst haben wir zusammen auf Schulpartys gespielt, später ging es über Hauspartys und Geburtstagsfeiern bis in Bars. Allerdings stand für mich immer das Auflegen zuhause im Vordergrund. Anfangs war es eher eine Art musikalische Selbsttherapie für mich und gar nicht so sehr für ein Publikum gedacht.

>>Was hat dich für das Set inspiriert?
Das Set ist in einer Jurte im Garten eines abgelegenen Landhauses in der Steiermark entstanden. Umgeben von Bergen, Stille und der Wärme eines Holzofens habe ich dort über drei Wochen Musik produziert und dabei unter anderem dieses Set aufgenommen. Die Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit haben mich vollkommen inspiriert. Als Catherine aus Wien vorbeikam, haben wir uns spontan ans Jammen gemacht – sie live am Saxofon, ich an den Decks. Das Ergebnis ist dieser Mix, in dem sich die Magie des Ortes widerspiegelt.

>>Welcher Moment deines Künstlerlebens hat dich nachhaltig beeinflusst?
2016/2017 war ich länger in Asien unterwegs und habe auf einer kleinen Insel in Kambodscha eine abgelegene Rave-Community entdeckt. Eigentlich wollte ich nur kurz bleiben, doch ich habe dort letztlich mehrere Monate verbracht. Schon am ersten Tag packte der Manager seinen neuen Traktor-Controller aus – denselben, den ich zuhause hatte. So bin ich sofort Teil des Teams geworden.

Die intensiven Nächte, an denen ich im Dschungel- und Strandsetting aufgelegt habe, haben mir klar gemacht, dass Musik für mich weit mehr ist als ein Hobby. Dort habe ich beschlossen, das Auflegen bewusster in mein Leben zu holen und auch öffentlich zu spielen.

>>Was ist dein Geheimtipp gegen den Kater?
Alkoholfreies Bier auf der Party trinken und dafür lieber mit Kakao durchstarten. Der schiebt ordentlich, und macht keinen Kater :)

Cozy Songs for Cuddly Days

Lately I created some edits for a club performance, playing a funky downtempo set. Most of the songs were hard to mix and couldn't compete with modern produced downtempo tracks.

I stumbled across Corre Riba when I created my chillout set (Cozy Songs for Cuddly Days) 2 weeks ago and thought that this is quite a banger. Made it easier to mix, warped to grid, re-arranged it a bit and added more electronic elements to it, so it would fit better into the club.

Just sharing my edited version of the original. All rights belong to Abel Lima; this edit is non-commercial and made out of appreciation for the music.

Magical night at "Das Werk" in Vienna during Salon Magika Event. Paired with an outdoor Rave along the Donaukanal during the day, the crowd continued to dance inside the club as night time began. 
I was lucky enough to play both outside during the day and having the main time inside later on. Played an energized and diversified set to follow up the high spirit that was created by the DJ before.

Seit knapp 3 Jahren schwebt mir die Idee eines Chillout Mixes vor, mit eigens aufgenommenen Recordings von Meeresrauschen und Vogelgezwitscher zwischen den Liedern. Die Sammlung an Songs wird immer größer und die Warteschlange länger.
Die Idee war auf Eis gelegt, da (Handy-)Qualität zu schlecht für einen Mix, und ansonsten zu viel zu tun. 
Nie Zeit dafür gehabt. Endlich doch.
Eine musikalische Reise an einem Freitagabend im Herbst, mit Songs die mich momentan beschäftigen, und welchen die ich seit Jahren nicht mehr gehört habe.

Die Selbstmotivation. Monate vergehen, in denen die Musik durch andere Projekte zwischenzeitlich komplett verdrängt wurde. Kaum sind die vom Tisch, entsteht noch am selben Tag ein neues Set. 

Einem Impuls der guten Laune folgend ist der Mix eine Reise durch meine Downbeat und Chillout Sammlung geworden, mit tropischen Vibes angereichert. Ein Kontrastprogramm zur Winterstimmung.
