Andreas, who ventured into DJing back in 1995, started his musical journey crafting mix tapes and spinning drum and bass in Philadelphia's underground rave scene. Currently based in San Francisco, Andreas combines his love for music with his studies in computer science. Operating under the alias Tygre (@djtygre), he immersed himself in the darker realms of electro, techno, and drum and bass from 1997 to 2000. After a prolonged hiatus, Tygre, inspired by the hypnotic sounds of electro, techno, and drum and bass, is back to spread his passion for music, the art of mixing, and the creation of mesmerizing sonic journeys. From the deep depths of Detroit’s East Side, comes Shawescape Renegade who sometimes go by just Shawescape or in conversations, Shaw, for short. An Electro Enthusiast to his hearts core, he’s very familiar around the corners of Detroit Electro. Shaw’s first official vinyl record debut was in 2018, releasing solely on his own, to now having his own record label, Andromeda Galaxies 313 with many future projects on the horizon, set to land in 2024 and 25. He will be in Berlin this year, all of August and September and he’s also set to head to Spain in October, looking to level the playing field with a bit more Electro on the grounds. ParallaX 019 | SHAWESCAPE : Through Detroit Trenches

We continue to explore the electronic scene and today we want to introduce you to a very unconventional artist. If you are standing, you should sit down.

Terminal 11 is the experimental electronic music project of Phoenix based artist and Arizona native Michael Castañeda. Originating in 1999 as an idea for an art piece, Terminal 11 has grown into a maximalist exploration of sound design, field recording, electronic composition and video art. He has released 14 albums since 2001 on labels including Opal Tapes, Satellite Era, Schematic, Hymen, Love Love Records, and Phthalo and has toured performing live sets in the United States and internationally.

Which artists has influenced you the most?

- Matmos and Autechre have consistently influenced me with every subsequent release after I started listening to both of them. After 20+ years I’m still excited and inspired by what comes next and what boundary will be pushed with regard to recording choice, process, and sound design. 

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- Currently I’m working on developing a follow up release on Satellite Era with an additional body of work that will be self released within the year. 

Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now? 

- With the recent release of the entire Tzadik catalogue on streaming, I’ve been absorbing all of the releases I never had a chance to hear. That label has always been and continues to be relevant and inspiring. I’ve become quite a big fan of Milford Graves recently after absorbing a documentary about him called “Full Mantis” highly suggest checking that out.

What inspires you now to create music? 

- Getting away from music inspires me to create it most of the time. Seeing friends and going on living life or focusing on painting tends to recharge my batteries and give me new ideas and thoughts about creating. When I’m too focused on music it feels suffocating and I want to walk away from it.

What set-up do you use when creating music? 

- I follow what feels right when I decide to create and work from there. Everything ends up finalized in Ableton but it can start with collecting field recordings, working with hardware drum machines/synths, recording a modular patch, or creating themes in Renoise. Sometimes it’s a big mix of all of them. I try not to have such a rigid approach regarding set-up and leave it to whatever feels right in the moment.

A familiar entity, no stranger to the grounds of the sound of future and past, Electro enthusiast, Shawescape Renegade from Detroit’s East Side loves to dig deep into the science of the electro world. Having being born into it, Electro is the main thing he knows and main that he pushes through the woofers on any terrain that he’s on.

 Shaw’s first record release debut was 2018 and he’s been carefully planning his next ventures ever since, with multiple more releases since then and has made appearances on remixes of others EP’s and or compiles. Shawescapes goal is to push more of the sound on any grounds that he can, as he joins Slam Radio with an Electro onslaught of past and future sounds.
