Gamma-ray bursts release more energy in ten seconds than the sun does in billions of years. For the duration of its glow, a gamma-ray burst is brighter than any other gamma-ray source in the sky. Gamma-ray bursts also have an afterglow in both the optical and X-ray spectra that slowly fades over periods of the order of days and weeks.

A group of scientists at Ohio State University was tasked with figuring out what the consequences of being hit by a gamma-ray burst originating nearby (about 500 light-years) would be on Earth. The study was also intended to help clarify mass extinctions on Earth and estimate the likelihood of extraterrestrial life. As a result, scientists suspect that a gamma-ray burst originating near our solar system and striking Earth could trigger a mass extinction on the entire planet. The expected severe damage to the ozone layer would collapse the global food supply as well as cause long-lasting changes in the climate and atmosphere. This would cause a mass extinction on Earth and shrink the world's population to, say, 10% of its current level.

Stupid only that most of the gamma flashes emanate directly from the earth...or their "rulers"!

Gammablitze haben zudem ein Nachglühen im optischen sowie im Röntgenspektrum, das in Zeiträumen der Größenordnung von Tagen und Wochen langsam verblasst.

Eine Gruppe von Wissenschaftlern an der Ohio State University wurde beauftragt herauszufinden, welche Konsequenzen der Treffer eines in der Nähe (ca. 500 Lichtjahre) entstehenden Gammablitzes auf die Erde hätte. Im Ergebnis vermuten Wissenschaftler, dass ein Gammablitz, der in der Nähe unseres Sonnensystems entsteht und die Erde trifft, ein Massensterben auf dem gesamten Planeten auslösen könnte. Die zu erwartende schwere Schädigung der Ozonschicht würde die globale Nahrungsmittelversorgung zusammenbrechen lassen sowie zu langanhaltenden Veränderungen des Klimas und der Atmosphäre führen. Das würde ein Massenaussterben auf der Erde bewirken und die Weltbevölkerung auf beispielsweise 10 % ihres jetzigen Wertes schrumpfen lassen.

Dumm nur, dass die meisten der Gammablitze direkt von der Erde ausgehen...oder von deren selbsternannten "Machthabern"!

The seemingly limitless manifestations that are observed during improvisational performance of electronic audiovisual materials drive me to seek collaborative interactions between compositional systems, machines, and myself. In holding space to facilitate an emergence of indeterminate phenomenon through analog synthesis, feedback systems, and field recordings, I share elements from multiple sources to celebrate shapes, patterns, and spaces.

I hold BAs in Art and English from Andrews University, and am currently enrolled in the Electronic Integrated Arts MFA at Alfred University. I was an artist in residency in 2017 at Signal Culture in Owego New York and in 2015 at Sachaqa Centro De ARTE, San Roque Peru. My visual works, and live electronic improvisational performances, have been featured across Peru, at The MuseumsQuartier in Vienna, and throughout the Midwest of America.
 
Note: Much of the work here is subtle in nature and I encourage you to listen via headphones or using a decent system whenever possible. Most computer speakers will not reveal the tracks fully.
