It’s hard to choose where to start with her immense background and experience, how about that she runs labels Émotsiya and Kotarak, releasing music from the likes of Sansibar, djrubio and Exploited Body. Or that she’s of course an active touring DJ with experience from the biggest clubs in the world, to the most underground dens in Helsinki. Hah, almost forgot that to top it all of she’s a producer with releases on labels such as Running Back, Cómeme, Hivern Discs, Tigersushi and Rhythm Section…. So yeah, try beating that. 

 Katerina pulls from natural textures and ambient as much as G-Funk in her music, making for a truly idiosyncratic style where she finds the somewhat impossible balance between eclecticism and a well-thought-out thread.  

This mentioned balance is evident in her mix for this series. Grab a note pad, pencil and sit down. Class is in session, and Katerina is the teacher for the next hour.

Ok so. It's been a while. 

I’m blaming it on summer - nothing more, nothing less. It’s already been a hectic year and life just has a way of getting twisted. 

Anyway, enough BS. I've got a tonne of new mixes to put this year and they’re all bloody unreal - I may be biased but I’m not wrong. 

This mix in particular is an absolute heart melter, courtesy of Melbourne's own (we’ve claimed him) Paradise Box, which is actually his name on his birth certificate. Don’t know much about the dude but god damn he’s made some good music. 

This mix hits, seriously. A softly driven emotional folk core road trip. Easily adapted to any mood or scenario, each time you listen you'll come away with something different. Futurist post-romance pop-punk vibes; rainforest dub echoes; folk trap; essence of drive soundtrack; all of these things come to mind during the journey across this beautiful soundscape. 

But i'll let you make up your own mind. 

Hit play for the first of many times and take some time out to take a breath and come back down to earth.
