The western low brass world has been experimenting with didgeridoo techniques on their trombones and tubas for decades. These instruments allow for fine vocal multiphonics, but haven't been able to produce a satisfactory range of formant harmonics.

These type of harmonics are created by shaping the tongue and throat into a series of distinct, discrete forms that emphasize certain frequencies in the overtone series. Since the wide bore of the didgeridoo is what makes loud formant harmonics possible, nu mouthpieces are crafted with the widest possible bore.

In addition to formants, didgeridoo players also extensively utilize the technique of circular breathing, which the flat rim of a traditional brass mouthpiece doesn't exactly facilitate. The nu mouthpiece is crafted with a contoured rim to help curb the escape of air while circular breathing.

We believe that a merger of didgeridoo and low brass techniques presents many exciting possibilities, and nu mouthpieces are dedicated to unleashing this capability. We hope that you are as excited as us to hear what lies ahead!
