Apsinthion is a greek name for wormwood, mentioned in Apocalyptic verse as a star from heavens that falls into the water making it poisonous and deadly. Some modern interpretations provide parallels between the star and Chernobyl catastrophe, leading us to further parallels on radiation poisoning in general.

A small window to the past you've never been to. Somehow you capture an athmosphere of a picture made by someone who had passed away century ago, and get a nostalgic feeling towards the time when even your grandparents were not there.

The Choice

Imagine how many things were lost in fire. Millions of lifes, thousands of beautiful creations.
We should never forget that the World is everchanging - and the Change is it's true nature. The Change has two aspects - the Destruction and the Creation. Today was certainly Destruction's turn. 
An important part of the past of my people is now gone forever.

Also I dedicate the track to the Kizhi Uprising.

This track is based on a variant of a melody from Russian traditional song "Vo pole bereza stoyala". This track was made years ago. Today probably is the day to finally make it public. Making it Creative Commons.

Музыка посвящена сгоревшей в 2018 году Успенской церкви в г.Кондопога, что находится почти на краю света. Это событие было встречено с определенным ехидством, люди устали от попыток государства внедрить религию в коллективное бессознательное с только ему понятными целями. Кто-то даже вспомнил знаменитого в узких кругах норвежского поджигателя церквей... А я вспоминаю историю этой церкви. Ее строила не организованная церковь, ее строили не попы вовсе. Ее строили сами люди, и, верится, что среди них были и мои предки, сами сгоравшие как свечи в кромешной темноте прошлого. Прервалась одна из нитей пямяти, которая тянулась от них ко всем нам.
Давным давно все перемешалось, все перестало быть актуально. Большие города, большие мечты, большие деньги и большая пустота в сердце. А ведь все могло бы быть совсем иначе. Еще пара таких церквей отделяет Север от бесконечной пустоты! Однако, горевать тут не о чем, так как всё рано или поздно сгорит - так или иначе.
В каком то смысле, этот огонь очистителен, ведь у тех, кто слишком погружен в прошлое, возможно, нет будущего. Однако, когда у людей исчезает прошлое, его часто создают искусствено...

Смущает еще и вот что. Недавно сгорел Нотр-дам - и то, не сгорел на самом деле. От Успенской церкви остались же одни угли. Что же жалели больше наши соотечественники?

This land is ancient and its sorrow is endless.

During a silent evening, you can hear how ghosts from the forest call you.
You come out to enter the ancient forest, it is everywhere. It's scary but suddenly you realize that way back is closed. Now you are in a labyrinth - without any walls.
In metsänpeitto you stumble across ancient megaliths - they are cold and silent. If you put your ear to one of them - you can hear how they are breathing.
You find a lake and the water is so clear so you can see through it like it is made from air. There is a boat waiting for you. There is an old man in this boat, he appears like you've seen him some day once.
He hums some familiar song your mother once sung to you. The lake is amazingly beautiful. You ask him, where are we going, and he doesn't respond. This old man doesn't know your language. He sings the song in a forgotten old language, and magical words soothe your soul, because deep within you know what these words mean - you knew this language from the beginning.

Ancient Land

Is there any island of tranqulity
Amidst the raging storm of history?
If we saw it one day -
This day was stolen
Without our understanding
How beautiful it was.
Now only questions without answers
Anticipation and points of no return.

But what about us?
We stand together
But we don't know what's unveiling.
Will we survive the next sunset?

A vague shape of future is completely hidden from us today, even more than usual.
The World is certainly in it's chaotic phase.
What was destined is now starting to happen, all problems that were hiding in dark, now have shown their faces to light, and these faces are scary. 
Oh how scary they are!
What was about to happen,
Is now here.

So what we are going to do?
