A fresh new project is bubbling up on Mindspring, BABILU, an ace production duo from Croatia is releasing with us for the first time. Ivan Lugomer and Goran Babić have been collaborating since 2005. It began as a hobby, but quickly turned second nature as they evolved, and learned, more how to express themselves through music - while connecting people with it.

Morphing various music genres into their unique sound, the album “Spirit Fragments” takes the listener on a sonic journey. Expect lush atmospheres, warm glitches, and ethnic instrumentals. Greatly inspired by Indian music, the songs have a soothing, and meditative, feel that guides us inward on an endlessly positive experience. Babilu - Morphing Spirits [Mindspring Music]

Spiral System bring some lush heavy dub vibes with Pascal's Journey.  This tune is on our new compilation Depth Charge and also on the Spiral System album Be, which we're releasing June 19th.  Here at Interchill we love the heavy one drop rhythm - and this tune delivers.  The insanely good flute playing is courtesy of Rowland Sutherland.  

Spiral System is London duo Joe Crisp and Cliff Ovenden with Lottie Child guesting on vocals.  Joe and Cliff met while recording at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios and have worked as a producer / composer team for many years.  They first heard Lottie singing bossanova in a London venue and got together to write material that became tracks on the debut Spiral System album  'In Your Dreams' which was released on Interchill’s sister label Macro.  Joe and Cliff also run the London based music production company Spiral Music which provides original music for media worldwide. They’ve placed music for Adidas, Nike, Google, BBC, Sony, KFC, Moneysupermarket, Strongbow, FrenchConnection, Geox, Puma, Honda, Rimmell, Pringles, Fairy, EAsports, and Doc Martens.

Spiral System- Pascal's Journey

This work is inspired by the “Four Seasons” poems by Li Bai of the Tang Dynasty.
 “Spring” is a sweet lament expressing the sentiment of a young woman: while calmly plucking mulberry and admiring the beautiful landscape in early spring, she sadly watches the departure of their loved ones going to war. “Summer” communicates optimism through the sunny portrayal of blooming lotus in a lake: she awaits effortlessly in a boat, but can only catches a glimpse at the royal house afar. “Autumn” depicts the yearning heart of a young woman: under the moonlight and feeling the soft blow of autumn wind, she laments the passing of time and wishes the safe return of her loved one from war. “Winter” describes an anxious woman sewing a winter coat late at midnight: she dreams the coat will be sent to her husband, keeping him warm and safe from the brutal winter wind in a war zone.
The vocal line captures the bleak but romantic poetic essence of the stories. The piano accompaniment is written in a dramatic manner, coloristic and dynamic. Music evolves from the lyrical and impressionistic figures in “Spring”, to the intense and angular gestures in “Winter”. The centered voice of a female character reminiscences elements of Kunqu opera, an old form of Chinese opera of passionate and melodious character. 
The track features soprano Katy Clark with pianist Denise Jung, who sung beautifully in Mandarin.

Watchers o'erwhelm the bank of Yuoye Stream. 
Her boat turns back without waiting moonrise 
To royal house amid amorous sighs.

AUTUMN

A slip of the moon hangs over the capital; 
Ten thousand washing-mallets are pounding; 
And the autumn wind is blowing my heart 
For ever and ever toward the Jade Pass.... 
Oh, when will the Tartar troops be conquered, 
And my husband come back from the long campaign! 

WINTER

The courier will depart next day, she's told. 
She sews a warrior's gown all night. 
Her fingers feel the needle cold. 
How can she hold the scissors tight? 
The work is done, she sends it far away. 
When will it reach the town where warriors stay?

It all started in Leeds, UK in 2001 where Nuphlo had a mix show on local radio station 'Fever FM.' He played Asian Underground and Drum&Bass. With the desire to play more exclusive material, production was the next logical step. Today, Nuphlo's DJ sets consist mainly of exclusive tunes produced by himself and fellow artists. 

Most recently, Nuphlo has released on labels such as Nasha records (UK), High Chai records (USA), Meerkat ecordings (Sweden), Lola's World (Germany), Terminal Dusk records (USA), Boosey and Hawkes (UK), Universal records and more predominantly on Studio Rockers (UK) where he released the '40 Thieves EP' working alongside legendary producer Tony 'Moody Boyz' Thorpe. Nuphlo has previously remixed for artists such as Landslide, State of Bengal, Foreign Beggars, Jazzsteppa and Boosey & Hawkes.
