Hard techno stalwart Fernanda Martins remixes the title track adding tension and pluck, creating a suspense-heavy arrangement. Second original Black Rain showcases dub techno with a twist: ample pressure is built through consonating pads and loops and stretched out all throughout its full 6 minute-length.

Don’t be fooled by the ominous title, it’s a family affair this one! Simina Grigoriu teams up with sibling Moe Danger and life partner Paul Kalkbrenner on the Shark Island EP, with K-Paul on remix duties and a special appearance by the label’s youngest member, Paul & Simina’s daughter.

The title track sets the tone with throaty vocal chops that add mystery to its clacking percussion and devilish synth lead. The effect is an intense build up, with the tension gradually released in the second half, by the way of dreamy synth arpeggios that lighten up the overall mood.
Kalkbrenner applies a staccato feel that tilts towards a more bouncy version of the original. Giving the track new life through a novel melody, it evolves into a deeply affecting piece, as its pulsating rhythm keeps the energy at a constant high.
You might know K-Paul as the electrifying half of the 90’s dance duo Lexy & K-Paul, a trait that applies to his production style, as well as in his remixing effort for Shark Island. With a more enigmatic, hyper-gradual release technique, this particular remix unveils jarring electro synths with brooding countermelodies.

Nuria Ghia boasts a tremendous trajectory on the electronic music scene, with more than 21 years of experience behind her in Spain, Europe and Latin America. Her harmonic and elegant sets breathe German tech house and other European-school influences, always with top technique, high-quality sounds and a focus on creating a special state of energy among her audience.

It is this path that has led her not only to be nominated for the award of best national DJ in the Minimal Techno category by Dj1 Magazine, but also to fill dance floors across the globe. Following a trajectory of important gigs and festivals, Nuria was nominated, for the third time, by Vicious Mag Awards as “Best Artist of the Year” and “Best Techno Artist of the Year”.

In her role as producer, having released several EPs and remixes on world-renowned labels like Tronic, Intec Digital, Deeperfect Records, Kinetika, Serkal Music, Globox, Novo Music, Bondage, Andes Music, BlueCube Records.. Nuria Ghia has built a strong profile internationally to match her standing in Spain. She has also been very well received by critics, DJs and producers across the scene.

2019 has been years full of new releases and projects for Ghia, including work on the growth of her label BlueCube Records and several successfully launched releases and remixes of important producers on the booming European and American scenes such as Ron Costa, Richie Santana, Ant Brooks, Pig&Dan, Eric Sneo, Tony Dee, Piemont, Hermanez, Pascal FEOS, Heiko Laux, Peter Bailey among many others, while great releases are planned for this 2020. Nuria participated in the musical documentary film “Con la Música a Otra Parte” produced by In Edit TV, where she was invited to reflect and review on the current music scene and sharing opinion with great artists of the national scene in various styles of music nowadays.

2020 brings yet more new projects, new gigs on the world electronic scene and releases besides being a year of consolidation for her own label BlueCube Records, with worldwide established artists alongside exciting and emerging talents.
