'When I first listened to Anna’s ‘Undercurrent’, I instantly felt teleported into an Arabian desert,
walking at dawn, barefoot, trying to reach somewhere, guided by the wind. For my remix, I wanted to
bring in the derbukkah drums to intensify this experience, and in general I felt inspired to add a part
of my heritage.'

Father with no name
Hands on his knees, head down to the ground
A city of strangers 
A city of chaos just rushing around
A girl reaching out to a world that won’t care
And all I could wish was that stair would turn to gold

Today in Istanbul, I saw something that broke my heart. A father sitting on a stair, head bowed down, hands on his knees..completely still in the chaos of a busy street. I could hear him cry. 
Beside him, a little girl, maybe his daughter, gently reaching out for him, trying to get his attention, silently. No one stopped. Life rushed by like nothing was wrong. I had just walked out of a shop, holding something I didn’t even need. And there they were, in grief and innocence, invisible to the world. 
I wrote this short song & painted this artwork with them in mind, in hopes of transmuting their sadness into hope.
May we always be grateful even in the nothingness, even in the dark.
