DOWN FOR THE CHASE UNRELEASED

When I heard reports of Bowie's death I assumed it was a grand hoax to compliment Blackstar, a hoax that would have fit well with the albums themes. But no, as reports continued to flood the web along with sentiments from fellow artists and performers I rounded on the realization that it was all true. What a shit morning. 

While I can point to the direct link between Space Cowboys and Bowie, I know it exists. His music and style influenced so many people in our group and the many vibes he created helped shape our aesthetics. A few of us started texting about the bad news and Andrea suggested putting together a tribute mix as a way of acknowledging all that The Thin White Duke meant to Space Cowboys. 

I want to add a disclaimer about this mix by saying I know it's not perfect and I know it leaves out so many awesome fucking songs. When I went looking for material I was surprised that—other than Let's Dance and Fame—there weren't many remixes out there. So I used what I could find, plus some originals, and at some point last night I decided I could either work on it forever or just be done. So it's done. It might be rubbish, but as Bowie says in the interview clip at the beginning of the mix, "All rubbish is wonderful."
