Kind of: it's our man @novacheq from across the channel once again blessing us with an amazing tune to premiere. "Detached" is a fantastically melancholic banger filled with precisely chopped breaks and a sub to take your low end to the higher ground. The choon will appear on his forthcoming EP "Staying Alive" via Leeds-based @gimmeabreakrecords. This magical 3-tracker will definitely establish Nova Cheq even further as one of the few producers on our radar with the power to fuse pace, breaks and bass into something that feels truly unique and emotional (while still banging, of course).

Known for his omnipresence in the UK underground breaks/jungle scene rught now, Mani Festo is a producer in demand. The Club Glow co-head is now making an outing on SweetBox, following a string of releases on E-Beamz, WNCL, Hooversound and more. Take a listen to his coveted breaks banger 'Cheatin', featuring a vocal that you'll almost certainly recognise. Make sure you check out his Dummy Mix, too. Described in a press release as "hazardously sour bangers!", two-tracker 'Toxic Waste / Warehouse 2.0' is proper rave material, and we're premiering the latter below. Amid a frenzy of breaks and relentless kicks, the track spirals into an acid belter, handclaps galore and arpeggiated madness.

Building from the success of their first release - The Moon Rack Compilation, an album compiling a variety of diverse creative influences, with a central theme of fusing genres and exploring contrasting moods - the Bristol-based Moon Rack is back with its first EP courtesy of Leeds-based producer, OSH. 

Featuring four experimental productions Moon Rack have struck gold in OSH's 'Northern Lights' EP. Through a fusion of twisted percussive elements, ambient synths, exceptional vocal sampling and ferocious breaks, OSH has developed a highly unique production style which, in turn, provides one of the most exciting and ambitious releases we've heard in a while.

With an impressive backlog of releases on Out of Sorts, childsplay, Shubzin, CAROUSE, Belek Records, Jerry Horny, Hyperdome Records, Hang Tough, Angels Gun Club and his own imprint Meld Records, mod-r has developed outstanding technical abilities allowing him to produce tracks spanning electro, breaks, jungle and percussive styles. His EP on Gimme A Break Records broadens the Aberdeen-based producer’s repertoire further by exploring the recently revived UK Garage/Breaks crossover with Obatalla.

Nova Cheq - Hypocrisy

Nikki Nair (@nikki-nair) rounds off 2020 with a return to Scuffed Recordings for the ‘Trying To’ EP, featuring three new originals and a remix from Hermeth (@hermeth).

Opening the EP with ‘Justtryingto’, Nikki comes straight out of the blocks with a French Touch-esque disco sample giving way to glitchy breaks and weighty bass. Next up is the supercharged ‘Trunk’, an all-out warper clocking in at 150bpm.

On the B-side is ‘cclluubb’, a broken-beat DJ tool which sees Nikki’s trademark vocal sampling carrying along a Baltimore Club-influenced beat. Closing out the EP is Swiss producer Hermeth, who brings a rowdy injection of acid to his remix of ‘Justtryingto’.
