Max I Million - "A Vibe Called Blessed"

After releasing the stunning Uncut Gems instrumental project last year, Swedish beatsmith Max I Million is back at it with a new single, “A Vibe Called Blessed,” taken from his forthcoming follow-up LP.

As you may have guessed from the track’s title, this is a loving homage to the legendary ATCQ. In particular, “A Vibe…” takes the sound and style of Tribe’s classic third album, Midnight Marauders, and synthesizes it into one track. Max’s instrumental is full of the warmth and jazz-influenced grooves heard throughout MM.

“A Vibe Called Blessed” is the lead focus track taken from Max’s upcoming album, Shine On…, which serves as a sequel of sorts to his Coalmine debut, Uncut Gems. The 12 track LP is set to drop this summer both digitally and on vinyl in multiple configurations. And if “A Vibe…” is any indication, we’re in for something special once the warmer months roll around."

The first release will be on April 20, 2022, when "CLASH" will be available for streaming, and the music video will be released on youtube at 19:00 on the same day. In recent years, the beat scene and the dance scene have developed a close relationship. This work, born out of mutual respect and insatiable inquisitiveness, is the culmination of the passionate exchange between the two scenes that has continued up to the present, and is a highly significant work with the passion to convey the magnificence of HIP HOP culture to those who see and hear it. We hope that as many people as possible will check it out.

The "ESSENCE EP" featuring Japan's leading rappers B.D, ISSUGI, and Senninsho, and "FLYING/NO EVIL" by beat maker grooveman Spot & Yasu-Pacino = SIM BROS. Today marks ten years since NINETOFIVE® Recordings opened up shop.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to support so many talented producers across so many sub-genres of instrumental music. Their styles are all different, but I’ve always felt they go hand-in-hand. And to celebrate a full decade of NINETOFIVE, we’re releasing a compilation that celebrates the diversity of artists and instrumental genres we love here.

For all you vinyl collectors: we’re releasing a limited-edition double LP of the album in collaboration with our friends over at Qrates. We’re only making 200 physical copies, but the compilation will be on streaming, too. (Owning the album feels way cooler, though—so go grab a copy!)

Thinking back, it’s clear how much the beat-making scene has changed since the early Soundcloud days. There’s less super-heavy sidechaining and everyone’s a little better at mixing, but the real evolution is the community that’s formed around instrumental music. That wasn’t there when we started, and contributing to it has been such an honor.

Thank you to everyone who’s shown us support over the years, listened to our releases, read our articles, or become a fan of the beatmakers in our community. You’ve made NINETOFIVE what it is today. Here’s to our second decade!
