Fresh off the back of her well-received debut drum & bass EP ‘Desert Lights’ and previous singles ‘Mesmerise’, ‘Return To Me’ and ‘Human Trumpet’, the bass music icon has upped the levels once again as she continues to showcase her musical versatility through her love for higher tempos. With her latest single inspired by her trips in isolation into the Los Angeles desert to amp up creative spirits, Flava D’s new music is a refreshing take and a clear demonstration of her constantly evolving sound.

Paving the way for the new generation of liquid drum & bass, ‘All We Ever Do’ is laced with soulful piano sample chops, gentle percussion and the graceful vocal collaborations of Paige Eliza and DRS. The jazzy vocal melodies of Leeds-based Paige Eliza float elegantly amongst legendary MC and vocalist DRS’ raw flows, as Flava D brings it all together with a warm bassline, snappy drums and her many years of experience as a top tier producer.

Flipping over to ‘Womp Machine’, the vibe is switched up as Flava D infuses her garage and bassline roots with her 2021 drum & bass style. Brace yourself for a bassface-inducing wobbler which incorporates dark and gritty sound design into the territories of 174BPM. With hope of live shows returning in 2021, ‘Womp Machine’ is set to destroy dancefloors worldwide as Flava D proves once more her status as a bass music phenomenon.

With over a decade of experience in the game, it’s no surprise that Flava D has worked her way to becoming one of the most prolific and versatile artists amongst the bass music circuit. With a heavyweight selection of releases under her belt, including collaborations such as ‘Soul Shake’ with My Nu Leng, her ‘UKG’ TQD album alongside Royal-T and DJ Q, as well as her more recent drum & bass smashers including ‘Return To Me’ which was selected as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record In The World, the Bournemouth-born and California-based producer shows no sign of slowing down. Things are only just heating up for Flava D’s drum & bass journey!

Nu:Tone is a name that automatically populates in a seasoned drum & bass brain upon hearing the words Hospital Records. But Nu:Tone’s first drum and bass release was actually put out in 2001 on John B’s label Beta Recordings after the pair became friends and established the local club night ‘Substance’ in Durham.  On returning to his hometown Cambridge, Nu:Tone met a squad of like-minded musical mates and eventually released the ‘Future Sound of Cambridge’ EP on Hospital in 2004.

With five solo studio albums to boast as well as a wealth of singles, and EP’s, Nu:Tone’s tracks can always be heard across dancefloors and the festival circuit. From his first studio album “Brave Nu World” to third studio album “Words and Pictures” (which was perhaps his most ambitious project) and all before, in-between and after, Nu:Tone’s output always gleans the full support of the wider dance music community’s biggest tastemakers from Annie Mac and Rene La Vice to Toddla T and David Rodigan. Nu:Tone regularly tours Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, confirming his global appeal. 

Nu:Tone can also be heard as part of other collaborative projects, like Nu:Logic, the Hospital Records signed sibling duo of him and Logistics. Or as part of Danism, under which he releases house with great success. Danism’s track “No Limits’ reached number one on the Traxsource chart in 2019 and received DJ support from house royalty Louie Vega, Danny Krivit and Todd Terry. 

Having a keen ear for other people’s music is something that we see from Nu:Tone in a multitude of projects. While working for Hospital as part of the A&R team, he also continues to work as a mastering engineer for Innerground, Spearhead and Soulvent Records. He fondly states an annual highlight for him is the stage he curates with Logistics at Sardinia’s famous Sun & Bass festival each year, and it’s clearly something he enjoys as he’s been back every year since 2003 (except one year when his eldest was born!)
