One year after his stunning debut on Relish with the aptly named Klub Psycho, French London-based dj/producer Mondowski is back with a new ep: Surfin Hell.
The eponymous track unrolls a mesmerizing technoid slo-mo psychedelia suffused with acid elements paralleling an out-of-space surf rock guitar riff which finally morphs into a Morriconesque western soundtrack clip. While Headman aka Insinna reworks the original track into a late nite club anthem, Sébastien Chenut, one half of Scratch Massive, takes us even further back in time with a brilliant dance-floor oriented remix which tapes into a distinctly eighties New Wave melancholia. Mondowski's second new track, Delok, turns out to be a totally different matter plunging deep into the uncompromising depths of leftfield club electronica. In short, full blast!

Brash, bold, rich in texture and drenched in soul, ‘Hypnotism’ is the lead off single for Glenn Morrison’s forthcoming club album ‘Dark Waters’ due in the fall of 2017.  Reflections and ruminations make for a creative release, and ‘Hypnotism’ builds upon a repeating motif - there are at moments five melodic sublayers working in good harmony.  A simple yet elegant approach with a nod to the psychedelic and goa styles, this release is a small taster of what the album holds for us.  On the B side duties is the brilliant Italian composer Dusty Kid, whose latest addition to the Fall From Grace roster comes at a perfect time, with his intelligent, melodic composition he takes the record into another world with slight hints of Glenn Morrison’s original motif.  Dusty Kid Dub remix is a twisted affair, with the abscence of the melodic arpeggiated layers being replaced with bubbly robotic blip crescendos and disjointed laser squeals.  On the final close of this release is the brilliant artist Morttagua.  A resident at Green Valley and a heavy touring artist in his native country of Brazil, his interpretation of ‘Hypnotism’ is strong for the big venues and loud soundscapes.  Rolling baselines and building melodic motifs stagger throughout the original ‘Hypnotism’ riff and this package has extremely gifted musicians essentially jamming and composing on top of riff after riff after riff.  This release is being serviced through DMDS Promo and Your Army UK with DJ Promo going out on Friday June 16th 2017. Release date is June 23rd 2017. From the moment of its release, Iñigo Vontier’s El Hijo del Maiz has become one of the most gripping albums of the moment. With South American and Middle Eastern sounds and his conception of music as ritual, the Mexican DJ keeps electronica in check as a valid mix of influences. The EP El Hijo Del Maiz Remixes, marks the end of an episode which started, in good company, last autumn on the Lumière Noire label.
The second track of his album, Bo Ni Ke, is distinguished by its original - almost implausible - universe, with a Japanese-inflected vocal filter and oriental flutes taking the beats into a crazy trance. Leaning on the 4/4 rhythm, Simple Symmetry’s remix of the track is also very playful (Iñigo Vontier recently remixed Nar for Simple Symmetry). The Moscow duo, noted in particular for the brilliant EP Plane Goes East released on Disco Halal (the Moscoman label which makes the link between east and west), pulls the track over to another - less terrestrial more psychedelic - universe, in their well identified ethno-underground style.

Italian rising star Amarcord (SXDNS109) makes his debut on California-based ROAM with an Indie-Disco-Rock-infused EP, whose title – “A New Day Is Coming” – seems to state an optimistic forecast of our near future. After releasing on vital labels such as Correspondant, Ombra International, Watergate, Emerald & Doreen and Aeon, Amarcord brings three new originals including a collaboration featuring ROAM alumnus Mufti on the vocals of “The Time Is Running”. The EP also comes with a remix from label boss Jason Peters of the title track. 

The tune we chose to premiere, “Discoteca Nella Nebbia”, despite its relatively slow downtempo (110 BPM), is so energetic that your body will feel the urge to speed up the dance moves to catch on the intensity of the track. Powerful guitar riffs, upbeat drum fills and vibrant synth layers were creatively and seamlessly brought together by Amarcord in order to give birth to a unique and essential piece.

This Album, a child of the Shelter Me Festival in December 2020, is in Aid of Shelter UK and the wonderful work they do to helping people with homelessness or difficult housing conditions.
The Festival took place over 3 days, across the 3 cities of Manchester, London and Leeds, and several of the artists who performed live at the event have contributed to this production too.
The track used for the project is entitled Shake Up Your Mind by Steady State which contains a vocal sample of Ofra Haza from her song entitled Im Nin Alu. All remixes were created with the greatest love and respect, with one common goal, to help others less fortunate than ourselves through music, unity and genuine will to make a positive change.
Each and every one of the artists, producers and mastering services have generously given their time freely to create a unique album of 21 remixes, spanning a colourful musical spectrum from Dense Dark Dubbiness, through Timeless Techno and Uplifting Acid, to Squelchy Squalid Chuggers.
This is a limited release with all proceeds going the Shelter Uk.
