Stealthy as the soul, you traverse in the midst of my soul
You, my gracefully moving cypress, O luster of the garden of mine.

When you leave, leave not without me; O essence of my soul, leave not the body behind
And depart not from my sight, O blazing torch of mine

I bear up the seven heavens and pass beyond the seven seas,
When lovingly you gaze into this wandering soul of mine.

Since you came into my bosom, blasphemy and faith have become my servitors,
O you whose vision is my religion, whose countenance, my faith.

You have made me headless and footless; you have made me sleepless and food-less
Resurface drunken and laughing, O Canaan Joseph of mine.

Through your grace I have become soul-like and have become hidden from myself,
O you whose being has become hidden in this hidden being of mine.

The rose rends its garment because of you; the narcissus' eye is intoxicated by you,
The branches are pregnant of you, O you infinite garden of mine.

One moment you brand me, the next you draw me into the garden;
You drag me before the light so may be opened, these blinded eyes of mine.

O soul before all souls, O mine before all mines,
O moment before all moments, O my very own, O my very own!

Since our resting place is not the earth; if your body disintegrates, it matters not
My thought is not aimed at the clouds, for union with you is my heaven.

The grave of mariners is the sea forevermore
But in the water of Life where is death? O you, Sea and Ocean of mine.

O Beloved, as dust in the air is separated from all heaviness,
Why should it be without you, why? O you, origin of my four elements.

O my king Salah-al-Din, you know the way, you see the path,
You, who are free of concern with dignity, O you, loftier than my potentiality.
