The Tree Of Life

In 2004 the song "Dragostea Din Tei" by the Moldavan Pop Band O-Zone became a huge hit all across Europe. It was covered hundereds of times and some versions were realeased simultaneously to the original. Thats why lots of fans didn't even know who wrote that heavy colored pop-art track in the first place. The americans instead, didn't  recognized this song until it became famous by a youtube user who shot a video of himself trying to lip sync to that song, calling it the song by the name "Numa Numa" as he didn't know its original titel (just type in "Numa Numa" at youtube, and you'll find it for sure). In result, the song blew up in the states and also became a hit. Even Rihanna picked it up, using the hook melody in the song "Live your Life". 

So when I accidentely stumbled across this song in 2009 again, I tried to play the chords on piano, just for fun. But the simplicity of chords and melody instantly changed my view on it, as it suddenly sounded kind of classy and deep. I knew I had to make a New Age Piano Cover of it. After a year, I was finally happy with the outcome of my version. So here you go, and hear for yourself what one of the most covered Pop-Hits sounds like, when its played on Piano.

The  heartrending main title "Kiss me, hold me, love me"  composed  by  Karel Swoboda for the  movie "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella" (Tri orisky pro Popelku /  Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenputtel), directed  by Vaclav Vorlicek, main cast: Libuse Safrankova;  is  still one  of the  best  movies  of and  about  Cinderella  ever !  Disney  hardly  comes  close  to  that magic. A gem of past days  of the  cold  war (CSSR/GDR).

This album is shaped by the instruments that have meant the most to me. The piano was the first one. My grandmother taught me by ear in the living room, guiding me to listen for the notes instead of reading them. That memory still sits underneath everything I make.

I have always been drawn to the violin because it feels almost vocal, able to carry emotion the way a voice does. My wife has the same bond with the cello and the warmth it brings, so that sound found its place in our home too. Bringing all three together felt natural.

The music blends these roots into a Modern Instrumental style that is serene, expressive, and personal. The violin leads with lyrical motion. The cello adds depth and softness. The piano and Rhodes set the foundation. The sound moves through easy listening, neo classical color, soft R and B influence, and gentle cinematic moments.

These pieces were shaped with the help of current creative prompt based tools, guided carefully to preserve the same warmth and emotion these instruments have always held for us all.
