After a year and 12 episodes of VINYL ECHOES and three solo episodes, Nyboe felt it was time for a change, and that's how WaxWorks was born. This new show will feature a different guest every month, diving deep into topics around hip-hop, vinyl records and analogue media.  

Each episode will explore everything from vinyl collecting, sampling, and production to DJ’ing and beyond. The focus is on providing in-depth conversations, introducing listeners to music and music culture they might not have encountered before.  
Given Nyboe’s roots in Denmark, many episodes will shine a spotlight on lesser-known aspects of Danish music culture and history, presented in a way that resonates with a global audience. Additionally, the show will highlight Danish DJs and collectors who specialize in diverse genres, including library music, Persian grooves, Brazilian records, and more. International artists will also share their stories, offering a broad and varied perspective on music.  

Nyboe’s hope is that WaxWorks will make this rich world of music more accessible to fans and collectors from all cultures, fostering connections between countries, genres and people.

Summer & Sun Live Mix

My mixtape for @DJD1200's 1200Twelves project with 100 DJ's from around the world doing a mix with only their 12"s. It can also be heard on different radio stations in Australia and New Zealand and in London on Ship Full Of Bombs.

I've put together a mix with about 35 of my favorite hip hop 12" records with a lot of mash ups and dope blends. There is a bit of Danish rappers, a lot of Danish and also German, Swedish and French producers plus a lot of American rap and beats.

I am honored to have been asked to be part of this project and I hope you like this 50 minute mix.

1200twelves 12" Mix #80 - Nyboe (Denmark)

A mix I did for a DJ Mix Challenge, but didn't finish in time due to some technical issues.

The theme was Dreams and all I could think about was a certain vibe. This is the soundscape to my dreams and lack thereof. It's my long nights with sleep paralysis and PTSD and physical pain keeping me awake and in a state of dreams at the same time.

I challenged myself with more of a descriptive feeling in this mix. I hope you get a glimpse into my world and understand what I am trying to portrait.

A mixture of hiphop, jazz, lo-fi beats, breaks and instrumental hiphop.

In this episode I have invited the Danish filmmaker, DJ and radio / podcast host Jesper Jensen / JSPR - also known as Busybody Films - in for a good and nerdy talk about everything from how hiphop shaped the life of a kid in the small Danish town Fredericia and how he started on local radio with a show about hiphop.
Also a talk about the documentary BEAT DIGGIN', which has recently been officially uploaded to YouTube after having a long life on VHS and DVD.
We also talk about his other documentaries and how he visited his brother Ras Beats in New York and how he came to be a huge cratedigger, DJ'ing and his love for movies.

My 7" vinyl only mixtape for @45Day with the theme Uplifting

For this challenge I had to dig deep into my 7” collection as most of the music I listen to and play is usually more dark in its themes. So I went for some of the more uplifting and uptempo tracks in my collection - mainly jazz, soul and afro. 23 tracks from countries like Denmark, Italy, Turkey, Iran, France, Australia, USA, UK and Norway.

Still with a hip hop twist though and some alternative versions of tracks you might know.

What’s uplifting is up for interpretation, but I have tried to put my own spin on what lifts your spirit, and mine.

45 Day is a celebration of the humble 7” vinyl record with DJs from around the world recording a 45-minute all 45s mix.

45 Day Uplifting Mix Nyboe

Back in August I had the privilege of opening up for The Alchemist & Boldy James at Pumpehuset in Copenhagen with a vinyl-mix of 32 slow and gritty underground hiphop tracks setting the mood for the sold out show. A lot of people have been asking for the mix or a playlist of it, so I have re-recorded the mix at home as soon as I had time. I hope you like the mix as much as the audience did live :)

Nyboe has created a mix of some of his favorite records from all around the world ranging from the 60’s to last year, focusing on old Library Music records, Jazz-Funk, Psychedelic Rock, Ethio-Jazz, Afro-Carribean, Cumbia, even some old pop songs and way more. 

Being from Denmark, Nyboe also sprinkles some Danish tunes in among the 39 unique tracks selected for the mix. 7 songs to be exact, for example some hidden gems from some of Denmark’s biggest pop-groups from the 60’s and 70’s like Nina & Frederik, Shu-Bi-Dua and Shit & Chanel. On this episode of WaxWorks Nyboe is visited by DJ KCL for a talk about everything from discovering hiphop through the Eurovision Song Contest to learning how to produce on old samplers, becoming a DJ because you had a lot of records, rapping, owning a hip hop clothing store and much more.
DJ KCL is a Danish DJ, producer and rapper and was the first woman to win the Danish DMC - making her the first European woman to advance to the DMC Finals.

She has toured and DJ’ed with and for several international artists and played some of the biggest stages around the world. She has also been involved as a producer since the 90’e and is mentoring younger DJ’s and rappers.

I wanted to do a pt. 2 of my break-mix "Rock Steady B-Boy Shit" from almost ten years ago - also since I feel the scene has changed a lot since - both for the breakers, but also for the DJ's. This time it's 90 tracks - as I had to remove one track - mixed across 131 minutes of funky vibes.

A mix of classic and newer breaks, DJ-edits and reworks and a little bit of hiphop from around the world. A bit of classics and well-known, but also many tracks that don't usually get played at battles or break-events.

Started with a crate of 980 song plus all the ones I have on vinyl and cut it down to these 91 tracks mixed together for a continuous groovy mix.

In this Month’s episode of WaxWorks, Nyboe is visited by the Australian rapper The Tongue for a talk and an introduction into hip hop from down under.

He will also give the listeners an introduction into the Australian hiphop scene with tracks from and stories about artists like Astronomy Class, Delta, Hermitude and Resin Dogs.

The Tongue is an Australian rapper and DJ, who became known when he won the Battle 4 Supremacy and Revolver MC freestyle battle competitions, which led to him being signed and releasing his first album on Elefant Traks in 2006. 

As a rapper he has worked with the likes of Gift Of Gab, Braintax, Dudley Perkins, Georgia Ann-Muldrow, DJ Diaz, Ozi Batla, Much & Plutonic, Bag Raiders and many more. In 2021 he became a professional DJ playing under the moniker DJ Xolo.

WaxWorks w/ Nyboe & The Tongue (11.08.2025)

In this month’s episode of WaxWorks, Nyboe is doing a solo-episode on the occasion of his 20th anniversary as a DJ with just hiphop from the early 2000’s.

2000’s hiphop has a reputation as being boring or just bad, but that was more the mainstream. There were plenty of classics coming out in the 2000’s and in this episode Nyboe will put some focus on some of these.

Discover or get nostalgic with tracks from the likes of Cunninlynguists, Brother Ali, Masta Ace, Pumpkinhead, Murs, Cage and many more. A lot of storytelling and a lot of anti-mainstream rap.

WaxWorks w/ Nyboe (08.09.2025)

The soundtrack / soundscape to the Danish painter and artist Asmus Helms' first solo-exhibition as a vinyl-mixtape on cassette with a mixture of Danish hip hop, old breaks, rare grooves, weird library music and so on.

A while ago Asmus came to see me play live - as he has many times before - and he has also bought several of my mixtapes, which he plays in his studio while painting. So we started talking about the exhibition he had coming and how maybe I should do a mixtape on cassette for it.

It became this - it was available for the fernis and exhibition in 8 copies for sale on cassette tape. Almost 60 minutes of 32 tracks mixed together on two sides inspired by his paintings for the exhibition and the surroundings he painted them in as well. It was an interesting challenge, but luckily Asmus loved the mix!

Nyboe is a Danish hip hop vinyl DJ for almost 20 years - specialising in west coast and south hiphop, boom bap, instrumental sets, Danish rap and crosses into especially breaks, library music, soundtracks, jazz-funk and trip hop.

He is a winner of Wax Poetics x Polaroid's and Reloop's international mixtape contests and is known for his extensive vinyl collection and cratediggin passion, which he shares on his Instagram page @nyboesvinyler 

He also has his own podcast - Nyboe's Pod - and is part of VINYL ECHOES with djf1bi.
