The MPC-series samplers are incredible idea generation tools. I prefer the standalone hardware units and think that the MPC-1000 is one of the best bang-for-the buck models available.

Why do I prefer the hardware units over something like Renaissance? First, software solutions scare me, things inevitably get out of date when operating systems get upgraded.  Second, having something you can just turn on after work, with no fuss, is huge.

This track was created with a record player and the MPC - and some records - that's it.

Audio from a reading of Catcher in the Rye, some old synths, (sh-101, promars, emax sampler) and a few nice strymon pedals routed to my portastudio's sends. 

The synth part is almost certainly a new order rip. They live inside me and inform what I do...can't help it.
