‘We Got This’ is a song on the spontaneity of fun times and the magic of living in the moment. The lyrics cut across a range of topics; from the desire to become great artists to the ‘pipedream-shaped’ local Kenyan music industry, to the zeal of spending time at the studio until a song is made against all odds; all weaved together by spellbinding metaphorical quick-fire lyrical bars and a catchy chorus!
 
Featuring versatile afro-fusion Kenyan musician Tetu Shani, afro-soul singer Songwriter Wanja Wohoro, the dynamic producer and music artist Mbogua Mbugua Mbugua aka M³, the lyrical and metaphorical rappers Sens_ei & Elsaphan Njora respectively

24th January 2019

7pm. Tetu Shani; a versatile afro-fusion Kenyan musician, walks into a studio filled with people one evening and asks to get into music production. Only M³ takes him seriously. A couple of minutes later, they are ‘finger punching’ buttons on an Ableton Push controller,
thumping drums that gets the whole room rocking back and forth.

8pm. Wanja Wohoro; an afro-soul singer-songwriter straps a C4 on her shoe sole and bursts through the studio doors like S.W.A.T. She starts playing keys while simultaneously vibing to a melody she’s humming into a microphone.

9pm. Two rappers, Elsaphan Njora &  Sens_ei join in. Collectively, they spread out in the room and shout ‘We Got This’ to the looped beat. Tetu Shani and Wanja build the chorus and bridge and record them. Njoraa &  Abu spit their verses and folks who’d camped at the
bonfire outside start streaming into the studio.

10pm. Somebody whips out a camera and a video is shot. Hectic!
