Over the past 6 years WOLF Music have earned their stripes as stalwart purveyors of refined House and Disco. Now, in the follow up to Medlar and Greymatter’s debut LPs and EPs from the likes of Ishmael, Ossie and Casino Times they ready their 3rd LP from Dutchman Frits Wentink.

Now residing in Amsterdam, Frits has a glowing back catalogue of soulful, Lo Fi club material that’s touched Heist Recordings as well as WOLF in the form of his ‘Mouse’ and ‘Goose’ EPs. With an experimental approach to hardware and instrumentation, his work blooms naturally through jams and improv and in this - his debut LP: ‘Rarely Pure, Never Simple’ we see a development in this experimentation to enlivening effect.

Working with a meld of grubby samples, chunky percussion and the frequent vocal accompaniment of Utrecht based Loes Jongerling, Rarely Pure Never Simple is a journey through Frits’ influences forged into a cohesive pack of grooves and interludes tinged with a certain charming nostalgia.

WOLF return & welcome their latest recruit Thrilogy to the pack. He first debuted on the label with the pumping 'Artic', but this is his first full EP on the label. 

The EP opens with 'Heaven', a gospel vocal, piano-laden house beauty. Think classic soulful house with a whole heap of church up in the mix. The EPs second track 'Hold Me In Your Arms', with its long breakdown, has Summer festivals written all over it. We can't wait to play this one in Croatia! On the flip, another newcomer, K.98, takes 'Heaven' up a notch and turns it into serious peak time territory.

Over the past couple of years, Frits Wentink has blessed us with four releases as part of the FRITS X WOLF series. Each 12” showcasing Frits classy & impeccable productions. To round off this chapter WOLF and Frits present a special remix EP with fresh takes of their favourite tracks from the series.

Up first is Bonafide legend, Ian Pooley with his exceptional take on the killer About You, even blessing us with some bonus beats.

On the flip, Prince Palmer elevates Intentions into a peak time burner that is sure to turn any dancefloor into a frenzy. Rounding off the EP, Dominic Oswald lends his signature sound to Club Land, deep, groovy and hitting all the right spots.

Another essential addition to the FRITS X WOLF discography. The previous releases haven’t stuck around for long so as always buy or cry!

Early last year we played at the small but perfectly formed, Oma Doris club in Dortmund. 
One of the residents that night was a young DJ by the name of Mr Fries, who during the night handed us a CD of demos.

Immediately impressed with what we heard, the idea of an EP was formed. 
Nearly a year later we are proud to present the newest member of the pack!

First up on remix duties is Hodini whose recent EP on Max Graef and Glenn Astro, Money $ex Records has been on constant rotation since it's release.

Hodini is an alias of prolific German Hip-Hop producer, Hulk Hodn and a major influence on Mr Fries who has sighted he was one of reason he was one of the main reasons he started to make beats. 

To round of the EP we've enrolled long time friend Garth BE. The artist featured previously on WOLFEP003 back in 2009 with All The Thrills. Since then he has setup the fantastic Sweet Sticky Records, releasing two full length LPs to great acclaim.

Drawing inspiration from the legendary sounds of Kerri Chandler and Mood II Swing, the release contains four Themes perfect for the nightclub, bar mitzvah, funeral or cruising in your 1989 VW Polo on your way to see your gal (or guy).

Reissued from the original DAT tapes 'Spring Dom' is one of those timeless records that even 15 years on sounds as soulful as it did when it first hit the racks. Echoed sweeping stabs, chunky drum loops and powerful synth flurries alongside those mesmerising vocal refrains, all tied together with a driving bassline - this is deep, deep goodness of the highest degree. Reworking 'Spring Dom' for the present day, WOLF mainstay Medlar provides a rave tinged remix, chopping the vocals and reworking the synth lines to give it a peak time, dancefloor demeanour. 

The flip houses the other two tracks from the original '03 release - 'Clubtronic' with it's UKG flavoured beat, M1 pads and jazzy free flowing melodies and 'Miss You' combining a bumping groove, dynamic bass melody and stirring Rhodes chords.

A much-welcomed reissue package from the WOLF camp and a chance to own this house treasure without feeding the sharks.
