“Mutualism” is a metamorphic meditative track, embodying our relationship with nature, symbiosis transformation and collective consciousness. It was created over lockdown in 2020 through a remote
collaboration between 14 multidisciplinary NYX artists and spoken word artist MA.MOYO aka Belinda Zhawi.

Mutualism Remixed EP by Anna Wall, Deena Abdelwahed, LCY and NYX’s music director Sian O’Gorman sees the talented producers add their personal flair while responding to a different natural element. The EP is set for release on 7 December via NYX Collective Records.

Some kind of meditation on the English motorway system. logistics centres. magic. black latex. wet carpet. vibrations in the countryside. exploded tyres. late harvests. surveillance capitalism. The ghost of my old love affair with Shoegaze. unbearable inertia. casual brutality. 

This is not dance floor material, but a chance to return to more subtle, ambient and experimental territory.

Special mention to Aircode and Zero Crossing Point (who both feature here twice) for their incredible albums released early this year which were a powerful inspiration to finally get around to making this mix.

Through the lens of the Hawthorn - one of our most wild & enchanted trees -  we move through folk traditions, ambient, drone, & experimental sounds that ignite our collective’s passion for peaceful union. This show features music from Palestinian artists and labels releasing music to help raise support and funds for the people of Gaza. Bringing home the May, this month’s 11:11 feature is by artist Clementine Blue, introducing a beautiful track called ‘Meditation', a collaboration with Tokyo-based musician ASUKA. Welcome back to NYX on Voices Radio. This month we’ve selected tracks inspired by the coming of Midsummer.
Rotating through loops of drone, experimental soundscapes, ambient, choral and electronic music we honour the sun and the pulsing energy of the summer solstice. Our mix reflects on the joy of extended daylight, early morning raves, euphoria, being out in nature with birds and insects in full song. This month’s 11:11 feature is by NYX sister Laura Misch and includes a track from her new album Sample The Earth, improvisations, field recordings and tracks that inspire her sun & warmth.

Vittoria Totale is a curator, voice artist and writer. She works at the intersection of music, contemporary art and language, with a particular interest in creating performative and imaginative open-source spaces. Vittoria’s DJ sets are part of an ongoing research of voice in sound and voice as sound, ranging from vernacular, classical, to contemporary explorations. Totale has long been part of Threes Productions and Terraforma and is part of the curatorial team of CIRCA. She released the gggglllloooossssaaaa album on Villa Lontana Records, probing the realms of voice and sound and their role as catalysts of untamed narratives.

Our 11:11 mix is curated by Katya Barton of The Listening Voice - vocal artist, writer & voice medicine practitioner who has both recorded with NYX and guided many of our singers through unique experiences to find their own inner union with their voice, leading us deep into the powerful world of collective harmony.
