 After a rain-stopping performance at Glastonbury last week, Little Dragon have announced a surprise London show at Corsica Studios as part of Boiler Room TV. The gig will be streamed live online between 7pm-8pm on Tuesday 18 July at http://www.boilerroom.tv/live

Having already been all over the airwaves with ‘Wildfire’ by SBTRKT on which they feature, they are is set to continue their meteoric rise to success with the release of ‘Ritual Union’ which has already bagged plays from Zane Lowe, Annie Mac and Lauren Laverne, who said they are “the coolest band in the world right now”. DJ Shadow seems to agree, having asked them to collaborate on a track for his long-awaited new album. The 12” and digital download will come with an acapella version of ‘Ritual Union’ and two remixes. One is a super smooth offering from on-the-rise German producer Tensnake and the other comes from house producer Maya Jane Cole, currently being streamed on iTunes here:

Since 2009’s critically acclaimed Machine Dreams they have not sat still, touring the globe and making some high profile friends along the way. Damon Albarn invited them to collaborate on two tracks for last year’s Gorillaz record Plastic Beach, which became album highlights for the critics with Pitchfork describing the songs ‘Empire Ants’ and ‘To Binge’ as “two of the most arresting things here; they’re airy, elusive and amazingly beautiful”. Similarly, David Sitek was so taken with singer Yukimi Nagano’s voice after touring with them in 2009, he asked her to lend some vocals to ‘If You Return’ from his solo project Maximum Balloon. And now Big Boi will be producing one of Little Dragon’s songs for his new album, after a certain Andre 3000 tipped him off. As if that wasn’t enough, they appear on Rafael Saadiq’s new album adding vocals to the sublime summer track ‘Just Don’t’.

Ritual Union the single will be release 25th July, with the remix EP to follow on the 15th August.

ECHLN gives a new lease of life to music coming out from South Africa. Born in Pretoria and now living in Cape Town, the sound engineer and producer, who lists Pharrell and Chad Hugo as his key inspirations, describes his sound as “something you’d hear from LA...more of an international sound with my own twist.”

This personal twist lends an edgy take to the revered west coast sound that is reflected in his latest 4 track EP, SWAY. You hear his thoughts out loud as he cleverly joins the dots between house, funk, hip-hop, soul, with the percussive and rhythm very reminiscent of The Neptunes. Enlisting the help of DTW mainstay silo for 'Feels So Right', with the sensual vocals of Shirah Cheezer, Hunter Rose and Vuyo Renene, an enigmatic appeal has been added to the body of his work - the overall composition of SWAY designates ECHLN as a producer at the top of his field.

In this week’s instalment of the DTW Free DL series, we have @naiady-porta AKA naj making their Darker Than Wax debut. The Brazilian-born, Bay Area-based multi-instrumentalist blesses us with 2 soulful, funk-infused cuts - dancefloor stomper ‘Diamonds in Philly, Penn’ and Portugese-language slow burner ‘Vão La’.

Naiady Porta, aka naj, is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and DJ born in Goiania, Brazil and raised in San Francisco, California. naj took an interest in music early on in life learning classical piano at the age of 5 and teaching herself guitar, bass, drums, banjo, and a multitude of other instruments along the way. She began dabbling in Ableton Live and making beats around the age of 24, but really began to take her craft more seriously at 26. As a new producer who has an eclectic taste in music, naj draws influences from funk, house, hip hop, bossa nova, trap, jazz, blues, soul, r&b, bluegrass, and punk to shape her sound.

The Moscow legend Anton Kubikov delivers a beautiful & haunting minimal techno track, bound to encapsulate the essence of Russian winter - while SCSI-9 offers a dubby and a hypnotic techno anthem. The Icelandic regulars of the label bring their goods to the table. The ever-intriguing collaboration of Ohm & Octal Industries never ceases to disappoint - and their contribution is an intriguing atmospheric deep house track, ideal for home-listening as well for the late-night rooms. The Thule Records label boss Thor offers a musical equivalent of a megafauna with his track - heavy hitting dub chords, mindbending delays & that little extra magic that we all love from the Icelandic god of thunder.
