A new great work will be released by Oak Editions on 29th June.
The title of the work is "Italian Resonances | Dronegazers?". It is an eight tracks album made by a seven artists collective composed by electroacoustic ambient musicians with a particular bent for drone music. Work has been commisioned by Fabrizio Garau from "TheNewNoise.it" , an italian webzine focused above all about alternative, experimental music.

The artists involved in the work are : Enrico Coniglio,Alberto Boccardi, Easychord,Attilio Novellino,Cristiano Deison,Giulio Aldinucci,Francesco Giannico.

'The webzine research is always directed towards the less conventional experience, therefore if this would be a section of a hypothetical guide, there is so much to say also about the support from independent labels such as Afe, Silentes and, as much as we should write the efforts of label such as Boring Machines and Fratto9, that join themselves together with different micro-noisy scenes around the country. We would not even end here, see Nephogram by Rosati , Farmacia 901 by Perletta , Ripples by Mazzon and the newly formed Oak Editions by Ballerini and Giannico . The quality is high, and the proof is the constant interest we received from abroad, as they did Entr'Acte , Aurora Borealis, Small Doses , Cassauna ... even we still have to make more steps further ( Interestingly , in this sense , the policy " Italy against the rest of the world " from Fratto9 splits ). Pictures―what lies behind the taking of a picture? Don't we all desire to catch what we see, to
playback what we hear? It's an archetypal human disposition, perhaps, the world's “call for
narration.” When places reveal themselves, when their secrets align with our sentiments, we are
thrown into a state of creation; we are urged to narrate.

And every place is unique. That is why the “journal de voyage” is a common practice in the art of
field recording: traveling, for the musician, is a perfect solution. Geophysical outline, color-sound
personality, plant forms, animals, human influences―every place is unparalleled.

Agosto14 began as a collection of material recorded during a stay in southern Italy. The initial goal
was simply a journal of soundscapes. But I later realized I could not leave this material untouched; I
felt an irresistible calling to manipulate the recordings, add other sounds, give it structure, make my
music. I had explored a place; this was my call for narration.

Each Piece of Agosto14 starts with a personal, collected, concrete sound, and evolves in a musical
way. In the opening track there are sounds from the Scala dei Turchi, a sedimentary rock cliff in
southern Sicily. In August the place is white and big, filled by sunlight, reflections and human noises.
In Messina I caught some weird, concrete sounds from the port and the boats as they were passing.
The center is filled with this repetitive mechanical sound, like a rhythm was coming from the boat's
core.
The third piece is an interval, a concrete composition from studio and field materials recorded in
Rome. There are some object-manipulating studio sounds and a bass drone coming from my home
refrigerator.
The last piece, Solitudo, starts from a soundscape of Favignana island, at night, one of the rare
places you can still record a pure soundscape, devoid of human noises.

‘Beautiful Ground’ is the result of an artist residency where Alessio Ballerini recorded sounds and stories during a walking trail of 250 km in 20 days.

It was'nt born as a concept album, but as it was slowly becoming like the music inside it the sound work of Cristiano Deison and Matthew Uggeri ended up finding itself, step by step, enclosed between the narrow walls of an exceptional home. Arriving there from different places and positions, and never actually meeting, Friulian and Milan found themselves, perhaps in spite of themselves, together in uncomfortable rooms which were populated by dark invisible presences. It is not the scenario of a horror movie, there is no tradegy or fear, just the knowledge that somewhere else or the escape itself may be less reassuring than one has hoped. Therefore Francesca Mele's photos, both a seal of the work and source of inspiration for the music seem to further cloak the place in that sense of quiet desperation that daily life often implies.
