Burgeoning Georgian Techno duo Lucid Void touch down with the stratospheric release on the newly formed Benthic.

Opening track 'Envision' is characterized by deep, brooding soundscapes with darkened kicks and bass for a sinister opening, which seamlessly sets up for the tempo switch with the interplanetary sonics of A2 'Assurance'; groove-laden pads blend perfectly around crisp off-kilter Hi-hats creating an extraordinary atmosphere.

On the flip, 'Objection' comprises of glitch sounds that intertwine together with a synth arpeggio and dark kick for a late-night industrial roller, as 'Dogma' concludes this fantastic EP, with unprecedented power, as raw, minimal, undulating sonics that cut effortlessly through the eerie void of space.

The first single to be unveiled this November will be ‘When Time Slows It Feels Weird’ which sees Loz return to the floor-focused delights of breakbeat sampling. The kaleidoscopic style in which this established producer operates his Reform Radio show can be best heard in tracks such as this. Goddard meanders smoothly through downtempo chordal structures and jazz-like melodic improvisations to create an intersecting masterpiece with astounding presence both in headphones and through the weighty structure of a towering sound system. The tumbling breakbeat contrasts tastefully against the space-age timbre of the project, encouraging listeners to sway carelessly with the sound of broken-up kick and snare combinations.

A glowed embrace, a mystifying meander through twilight spaces, dipping between the shadows and the orange light, waiting for the moment when smiles abound and feelings muster….


Certain artists create captivating essences within their work, no matter what that work might be formalized as, and there are few better that conjure up a myriad of emotions than Maltese producer and multi-instrumentalist Melchior Sultana, who is releasing his new LP on the Oath.


A born feeler of the ways in which music can ignite, reflect and inspire, Sultana’s career has consisted of an endless sequence of forays in multiple genres, styles, and complexions, taking in everything from Techno, Deep House, Soul-Jazz, Trip-Hop, and everything really that exists in-between. His craftsmanship reflects a deeper understanding of how sound is utilized and portrayed, with a careful application placed upon every note and beat that exists within each of his creations. Spaces are filled carefully but with plenty of enthusiasm, with a keen eye placed upon every element to ensure that the frequencies all sing from the same song sheet. As a result, his music feels alive not just with technical layering but with soul and mood, something that reflects his upbringing within the rich cultural melting pot that is the Mediterranean.

Music is an art form in Melchior’s eyes, a purity of expressionism that bares the soul of the creator, and welcomes others into a space where connections and appreciations can flourish. This approach is captured throughout a discography that is bold as it is emotive, as dynamic as it is razor-focused, a broad warm sea of color, technicality, and meaning. His latest phase has seen him cover an enormous amount of ground within contemporary Deep House, with his incredible take on the genre seeing him release music on iconic labels such as 12Records, Underground Quality, Minuendo Recordings, and Ten Lovers Music, along with curating his own imprint, Profound Sound - a series of releases that have seen him rise to the top of the genre, a creator who is vastly admired and constantly sought out.


Sultana seems intent to continue this exploration of sound and form with his new LP, ‘Self Reflection’, with plenty of his tried and tested motifs making appearances here. From the glittering, twinkling opener ‘Chill’, Sultana turns on all the styles he can muster, with power and melodic grace being manipulated with such intuitive creativity. Two acid-tinged numbers, ‘Mirage’ and ‘Switch Up’, come next, and these cuts contrast Sultana’s beautifully considered chord progressions with something a little harder, and as a switch, in the frequency, it lends itself well for the next phase. Three gorgeous house tracks slide through the door next - ‘You and I’, with its calming vocal snippets and pulsating pad work; ‘Conclusions’, with its aquatic, simmering lead synth lines; and ‘Dogma’, with its perky, uplifting organ melody.

‘Heads Up’ is memorable for its skippy beat structure and its well-defined spatial makeup, whilst the dance floor orientated (and aptly named) ‘Remember the Floor’ will have you dreaming of four walls and smoky lights. The record closes out with two superb numbers, ‘Don’t Look Back’ and ‘Module’, which see Sultana really go for it in regards to sequences and tones, and the results leave a lasting imprint on the memory. As always, there’s an extreme sense of satisfaction to be had with this album, a spiritual joy that caresses the soul and enriches the mind, a duality that only artists such as Melchoir are able to achieve. As always there’s a profound deepness to the music, with Beltran’s love for instrumentation laid bare for all to experience here, with flourishing sequences and airy, dreamlike atmospheres found throughout. Striking the perfect balance between sultry and quietly euphoric grooves and equally emphatic yet rhythmically intricate House leaning numbers, there’s something for everyone here and for all times of the day/night. ‘Em Trancoso’, the opener, features some enriching polyrhythms alongside a backdrop of sweetly fluctuating horns, with plenty of twinkling piano chords and synth tones to keep us drifting upwards and onwards. ‘A Danca Da Manha’ arrives next and twists the EP towards the hazy mornings of summertime, where the chordal flow reminds us of the sea breeze and the uplifting horn work points towards the world unraveling all around, a fresh tune to begin a new day. Another groover, ‘Kumbatia (Hold Them Close)’, comes next and this one keeps the feeling flowing onwards, with quiet undulations making up the bulk of the forward progression here, as the keys seem to float in the air, enticing us to keep moving onwards. Last but not least comes ‘Mallorca’, and well, this one shifts us to the end of the day, with a more spread-out rhythm providing room for one of the most beautiful melodic sequences you will get the chance to hear this year.

A Dança Da Manhã

German-born, Amsterdam-based artist Retromigration has been carving out a distinct path for himself over the last year with his tantalizing, raw house sound. Combining elements of classic production techniques to sculpt his warm, authentic sound.

His Nigerian and Ghanaian roots shine through with distinct musicality and a blissfully laid-back approach to his grooves, his records have been previously snapped up by established imprints including Rhythm Section International, Wolf Music, and Handy Records to name just a few. His fusion of hip-hop and house stems from an upbringing of studying jazz bass and is evident throughout this stunning release. A gentle touch of sampling and expertly played basslines glue these fantastic tracks together to form the joyous 'Kush Calls' EP.

Genius Of Time consists of Nils Krogh and Alexander Berg, both of whom have been actively making music for a good while now but began their journeys as Genius Of Time all the way back in 2010. There’s a deepness to their music which is hard to define in its perceptual and physical beauty, with each record they have released concerning itself with finding the right balance between ethereal textures and technical application. This finely struck relationship has allowed the duo to really explore the parameters of their sound, engaging the listener via sequences which take their time to unravel and hit all the right notes when the going gets good. From jazzy steppers through to bouncing 90s inspired gems, there is little which the pair feel is off the table, and that approach is indicative of a healthy mindset towards experimentation and ensuring that room is always found to grow into and dwell deep within. Giving and taking is always a great sign within electronic music, and Genius Of Time provide the kind of breathing space within their music which invites you in and takes you to very specific and magical kinds of places.

As two differing sides to the emotive spectrum, there is plenty here to dive into, and helps to serve us up very nicely indeed to their latest effort, ‘Sunswell’, their first record together in three years. Inkeeping with their most recent efforts, the duo waste no time in bringing forward some truly special vibes, with the title track kicking things off in spectacular fashion. Simmering, engrossing synths start preceedings, before a delightful breakbeat slides into view underneath, with 90s leaning vocal samples fuelling the momentum as we slide onwards and upwards. The additional key work which comes into view around the half way mark ensures that the heart and the soul are both very much fulfilled.

Sunswell

A1 - Genius Of Time - Sunswell [OATH006]

Acronym (@4cr0nym)delivers his latest EP ‘Millennial Lowlife’ via Benthic this July, comprised of four originals from the Swedish artist. 

Across the past decade, Dan Vicente aka Acronym has been unveiling his twist on murky, hypnotic Techno via the likes of Semantica Records, Northern Electronics, and of course, his own Stilla Ton imprint, showcasing a more esoteric and experimental approach to the genre and steadily rising to prominence as a driving force for the Swedish Techno scene. Here we see him joining the roster of Benthic following its inaugural release back in September 2021 from Lucid Void. 

Title-track ‘Millennial Lowlife’ opens up the project and perfectly sets the tone with subtly unfurling atmospherics, gnarly bass stabs, and modulating synths atop a low-slung, driving rhythm. ‘Albanova’ then tips the focus over to an ambient tip, merging metallic arpeggio chimes with pulsating dub swells and tension-building textures. 

‘Vertical Garden’ opens the flip side and leans towards a more electro-tinged aesthetic courtesy of squelchy acid bleeps, crunchy drums, and ethereal pads before ‘Flashing LED’ rounds out the release, once again returning to an ambient feel with cinematic strings, meandering sub-bass tones, and shuffled percussion throughout.

For the label’s third LP release, Oath are extremely proud to present this extraordinary sonic journey from Jascha Hagen, one which continues to showcase the producer’s penchant for defying expectations and finding consistency in flipping switches and moving from one form of expressionism to the next. 

Who doesn’t love a record which seamlessly moves from one side of the audial spectrum to the other, whilst seemingly filling in all the gaps that persist inbetween? Well, this has been the career trajectory that Jascha Hagen has set himself out on since 2008, and his discography speaks for itself in this regard. Operating within the realms of House and Deep House, Hagen has made it his mission to push out the boundaries of what feels possible within the genre, deconstructing the meaning of rhythm and melody to really stamp his own sense of identity on proceedings. Each release speaks to this concept, with differing tones and beats stretched out and impeccably built upon as a means to provide an enriching experience and, first and foremost, a balanced and beautifully curated one. His ability to weave the notions of the house into other genres has become more prevalent in recent years, taking Downtempo and Techno-leaning vibrations into his already deeply engrossing sound. 

With releases on imprints such as Shh, Auditive, Mana All Nite, and his own imprint Physical Pleasure, there is so much goodness to dive into if you like your House music ever shifting and ever illuminating, along with the comforting knowledge that the next release will only add to the ever engaging soundscape Hagen has conjured up so far. 

Two years after his debut LP effort, ‘Harmonies Romantiques’, Hagen graces us with the presence of ‘Songs for a Future Generation’. Continuing with a similar vein of musical exploration that occurred on his debut LP and records such as the highly vibrant ‘A Touch of Cold Water’, Hagen turns on the style in regards to creating a deeply compelling series of sounds that all for one but deeply individual all at the same time, with the micro evolutions that occur throughout giving much over to the idea of creating a rounded and fulfilling experience. The album begins and ends with two uptempo numbers in the form of ‘QQQ’ and ‘Slide Through the Valley’, both of which allow for a release of sorts through the inspired use of live instrumentation and the layering of elements that makes the music feel so very alive. Quiet spaces are found in the cuts ‘Rivers of Absence’, ‘Too Far’, and ‘Swaying’, all of which persist between the rhythms impeccably and act as these thoughtful, beautified interludes that touch upon the question - what will the future look like? All of which is answered in three differing tonal ways. ‘L7 Dreams’, ‘Gem’, and ‘XX Blues’ all shift between the other vibrations, exploring in their own exciting ways a very conceptual manner of being, and it caps off the experience beautifully. 

Jascha Hagen has always had a knack for making the extraordinary feel effortless, the in-sequential feel complete and whole, and the wide-reaching feeling laser-focused and total. This new record is a testament to these notions, and from the moment you press play until the record wraps itself up, there is a deep satisfaction to be had, a journey that merits revisiting time and time again. So why not take a little meander, and loose yourself within an audial experience of such quality…

Acronym (@4cr0nym)delivers his latest EP ‘Millennial Lowlife’ via Benthic this July, comprised of four originals from the Swedish artist.

Across the past decade, Dan Vicente aka Acronym has been unveiling his twist on murky, hypnotic Techno via the likes of Semantica Records, Northern Electronics, and of course, his own Stilla Ton imprint, showcasing a more esoteric and experimental approach to the genre and steadily rising to prominence as a driving force for the Swedish Techno scene. Here we see him joining the roster of Benthic following its inaugural release back in September 2021 from Lucid Void.

Title-track ‘Millennial Lowlife’ opens up the project and perfectly sets the tone with subtly unfurling atmospherics, gnarly bass stabs, and modulating synths atop a low-slung, driving rhythm. ‘Albanova’ then tips the focus over to an ambient tip, merging metallic arpeggio chimes with pulsating dub swells and tension-building textures.

‘Vertical Garden’ opens the flip side and leans towards a more electro-tinged aesthetic courtesy of squelchy acid bleeps, crunchy drums, and ethereal pads before ‘Flashing LED’ rounds out the release, once again returning to an ambient feel with cinematic strings, meandering sub-bass tones, and shuffled percussion throughout.

On his second excursion for Oath, Manchester-based producer Loz Goddard continues to nurture the clubby side of his sound with a razor-sharp and bombastic EP that contains all you could ever wish for when it comes to breaks, euphoria, and sonic depth…. 

As a producer, Loz has operated under a number of guises, but one thing has always remained - his elegant and inspired application of melody. His early career was marked by a number of superb releases on labels such as Church, Tusk Wax, Apparel and many more, all of which highlighted a deep affection for groove, tone and atmosphere. The music largely operated within the realms of Deep House - at times spilling over into Nu-Disco - but there was always a little bit of shine on each EP that pointed to other spheres of influence, and it was these references points that made Loz Goddard’s music feel broad, considered and introspective. The music appealed on many levels and provided plenty of worlds and spaces in which listeners could get deeply involved within, and this journey is filled with beautifully polished gems that can be held and admired in your hands time and time again.

SofaTalk's deliciously eclectic music presents as a patchwork of styles carefully pieced together to produce a sound that, whilst tricky to define, ultimately is a true joy to experience.

His unique take on electronica pulls influence from across the global underground, his homeland of Italy, the nu-jazz movement, and beyond. Charged by boundless energy, the one-man producer and artistic powerhouse splits his time between managing his label Cognitiva Records, overseeing the artistic direction of event-brand Cognitiva All-Star, and hosting his monthly radio show Soundscapes on Universal Rhythms Radio. Any time left is spent toiling away in his Rome-based studio, working on remixes collaborations, and continuing to refine his far-out signature styling.

An alchemist of beats, SofaTalk's unconventional take on electronic music has been featured on international labels such as Banoffee Pies Records, Yam, Movement, Tusk Wax, Roots Underground, Broken District, Boogie Café, and Oath. Whilst household names such as Fred P, Bradley Zero, Byron The Aquarius, Lefto, Carista, Seb Wildblood, Auntie Flo, AliA, DTM Funk and Paula Tape have all supported his past work.

On February 28th, SofaTalk debuts on Oath to release a new 8-track album titled, 'The Soul's Code' featuring the production talents of fellow alt-house maestros, Veezo and Zopelar. Three teaser singles can be expected on the 31st Jan, 15th and 22nfd February. By drawing on what seems like an infinite stockpile of genres, Italy's SofaTalk plots an idiosyncratic path for fans on his sophomore album project. Opening track 'Dub Lush' feat. Veezo is oozing with charm and character. Steadily unfurling over a mishmash of strung-out low-end frequencies into a whimsical dub-soul brew of peculiar chord arrangements, snatches of saxophone and sweeping overtones to make for a glorious slice of neo-electronica that sets a defining precedent of originality early.

'The Truth' released as the first single on the 31st of January, sees him employ a gentle thud and kick combo that subtlety loops around a tense, claustrophobic melody. Lifted in parts by a raspy, soulful vocal that nonchalantly carves through the mid-section with juxtaposing intent.

The already haywire nature of The Soul's Code becomes even more erratic as SofaTalk blurs the paradigms of house, funk and broken beat to produce the beautifully bewildering 'Paradiddle' - making for a stuttering, nervous melody that somehow manages to work in a series of jaunty 8-bit videogame effects over a melancholic and fragmented sound design.

As the lo-fi spirit of 'Complex Journey' distills the giddy energy of SofaTalk's second album we find ourselves at the album's halfway house with a beat that plateaus amidst a tie-dye of snappy sound effects and easy-going bongo percussion. Released as the third single on the 22nd February, the jazz-house fusion that fuels each measure of 'Around' underscores SofaTalk's penchant for experimenting to present a beat loaded with jazz-fills, over-mellow percussion and chopped female vocals.

Pinned as the second single release on the 15th February, 'Out of Nowhere' feat. Zopelar kicks off by way of a Latin-like drum loop, tambourine and arching pad work. The beat then corkscrews through a series of dramatic flanged effects, squelchy synth and bosa nova like sonics whilst encompassed by a fidgety house melody. The appropriately named 'Drum Circles' features a medley of deep, percussive elements that assemble like building blocks snapping together one by one creating the foundation for the track before the inclusion of a wobbling bassline takes hold.

The last stop on SofaTalk's wavey album journey comes in the shape of 'Magpie Rules' which epitomises the dream-like essence of the LP with its break-beat core, surreal overtones and mind-bending melodic-structures.

Berlin-based DJ and producer Moomin (Sebastian Genz) makes his highly anticipated return with Into The Distance, a deeply immersive new album set for release on March 28. 

The 10-track LP expands on his signature sound—luxuriating in warm textures, subtly toying with shifting tones, and teasing out compositions of understated complexity. A record built on deep, meditative grooves, Into The Distance invites listeners to get lost in its hypnotic flow.

In the wake of his 2011 breakout debut The Story About You, Moomin was praised for the “resplendent naturalism” within his “beautiful, introspective take on house music”. He had cast a spell of “modern house music magic”, crafting a sound “you can listen to anytime, anywhere”. The acclaim was universal, yet Moomin remains humble, describing himself simply as “a music-lover”. Since that unmissable debut, he has further defined his unique inner-world sound through releases on kindred spirit imprints Smallville, WOLF Music, OATH, and Aim, while also launching his own vinyl and tape label, Closer, a passion project that perfectly matches the tactile and intimate nature of his productions.

Now, with Into The Distance, those unmistakable Moomin signatures are taken even further. Tracks like Joni and A Way Out pulse with understated energy, while Caught In A Memory and Night Moves evoke a dreamy nostalgia. The album moves between deep house, downtempo, and ambient influences, creating a rich, cinematic listening experience. From the hypnotic rhythms of Island Dreams to the drifting melancholy of Summer’s End, Moomin explores movement, both physical and emotional, through sound.

After years of performing at some of the world’s most influential clubs and festivals, Moomin made the decision to step away from live shows. Since 2019, he has successfully run his own mastering studio, continuing to pursue his deep love of music and technology. Tom Harris, aka Hidden Spheres, first made his mark on the underground with his release ‘The Bloos’, on the legendary Detroit label Moods & Grooves. Continuing to deliver his incredible original studio productions on UK Labels Distant Hawaii, Lobster Theremin and Bradley Zero’s Rhythm Section imprint.

Taking a break from his frequent NTS radio shows and his own record label ‘Fruit Merchant’, he now offers up a four track EP of collaborations with musicians from across the globe. Crafting a record that fuses influences from jungle to acid and afro-beat and many other stops along the way.

‘Breathing Deep’ lands on the A1, a collaboration with John Swift that brings a plethora of worldly percussion instruments, from tuned marimbas to live drum kit and live grooving conga rhythms. Pitched vocals and bright horn stabs contrast the meandering synth leads that run through this acidic blend of organic and synthetic sounds.

‘Tiamo’ features Contours for this trippy, off-kilter groove. Swelling synth chords and hypnotising triplet feels from the palate of live percussion rhythms. ‘Ruhani’ ft. Kubilay Yiğit, is teeming with afro-beat references. The live drums nod to Tony Allen’s genre defining playing while a wandering acid line leads the track through an exploration of underwater electro vs organic African drumming.

'Believe' ft. Theo Erskin closes the EP with skippy hip-hop influenced MPC style drum programming. Shuffling across with syncopated kicks, live saxophone improv and wobbling electric piano chords, this miniature jazz exploration proves Hidden Spheres is more than just a club producer.
