The SoundBus is an installation and performance, where various live-recorded sounds coming from a driving bus is being played out in a headphone amplifier setup to all passengers riding in the same bus. In the midst of it, I and Allan Skov is handling a live mix and eq'ing of the signals, making it an instant composition-performance. This recording is from the LAK festival of nordic sound art 2013.

Composition for 4 boiler kettles

The Boiler Quartet consist of 4 boiler kettles carefully selected for their resonant character and the degree of sediment limestone that gives a characteristic “singing” when exposed to excessive heat. These recordings was made in my studio but usually the composition is performed in a live environment with the 4 kettles positioned in a concert formation.

Animate!!! is a resonance-music performance, where trash material is being conjoined into a sound-sculpture by accordance to the resonance profiles of the different materials. The performance is about searching for resonant equilibriums between the objects and using this in a musical manner, using gravity and mass to let the objects grow together into a vibrating, animated sculpture.
As preparation to this particular recording, Juuso Paaso and I searched the local surroundings for scrap and converted them into sounding units that we afterwards rehearsed for a performance and finally had a very successful show at the Homegrown Choppers garage in Helsinki. Juuso Paaso also accompanies the soundscape with his guitar which brings up a extremely nice droney feel to the whole.

Various versions has been performed at Tårnet gallery for soundart in Copenhagen, Homegrown Choppers garage in Helsinki and lately at Nikolaj Kunsthal in Copenhagen. Animate!!! has been supported by two Nordic Culture Point Mobility Grants, and is one of the compositional research projects for which I have been supported with a work grant by the danish arts council.
