The harsh light of dawn cut through the haze of fragmented memories, ushering in a day tinged with uncertainty. There was something alien about the way I awoke, wrapped in the cocoon of unsettling dreams. As my consciousness bridged the gap between the abyss and reality, I felt a peculiar weight in my hands.

In the dim chamber, beneath the pulsating glow of the sterile ceiling, I discovered the enigma that defied comprehension. A cold, metallic vessel rested in my grasp, one I could neither recall procuring nor relinquishing. The texture of its surface held secrets untold, reminiscent of the inky carapace of an otherworldly creature.

Within, an intricate array of tendrils coiled, suggesting both life and death, a paradoxical dance of existence. A single, luminescent orb, like a distant star, pulsated with an eerie radiance. My fingers hovered, a hesitant contact with the enigma, an instinctive understanding that defied reason.

Confusion enveloped my senses, swathed in shadows of the uncanny. The air bore an aura of disquiet, a hushed whispering of secrets buried deep. The tendrils seemed to writhe, an alien heartbeat in resonance with my own, as if bound by an invisible thread. What is this omen that now sleeps in my fragile hands?

As the day unfolds, I remain vigilant, aware of an inexplicable connection to this arcane relic. A sense of foreboding lingers, like the echoes of forgotten nightmares. I am a reluctant protagonist in a narrative unscripted, where the line between reality and surrealism blurs, where the tendrils of the unknown reach out to weave a tapestry of enigma around my fragile existence.

I found the strange buck-creature that I saw yesterday. Or what remained
of it, at least. It was the body I first came across, lying in a shallow ditch
against a tall column of stone, missing its head and a good chunk of its
front half. Close up, I could see that it was about the size of a horse, and
it had an equine, muscular build as well. It must have been strong when
it was alive. Yesterday I guessed that it had six legs, but that number was
actually eight, four on each side. The poor thing was a chimera, the body
mammalian and coated with a sheen of dark fur, but the limbs like crab
legs, jointed and covered in a hard, iridescent shell.

My greatest fear is not that I will find some sort of half-animal creature,
wild-eyed and untamed. It is that I will find a genuine monster: someone
perfectly human but with a heart of stone, turned cruel from enduring
years of cruelty. What if they are not a tool enslaved by the Protectorate
but a willing blade? What if they are proof of what I should have known
all along that there is something broken inside me, only waiting for the
right environment to bring it out?

The passage of time reveals the enigma to be a chimeric creation of otherworldly design. It stirs in my grasp, a metamorphosis underway, unfurling its alien essence in the most cryptic of ways. The tendrils, once rigid and enigmatic, have begun to soften, transforming into something ethereal, reminiscent of avian wings. The material's texture, once metallic, has now assumed a velvety softness.

As I observed the unfolding, a sublime terror gripped my very soul. The creature's tendrils extended further, each one branching into a structure resembling feathers, yet nothing akin to the terrestrial world. Its luminescent orb now refracts light in such a way that it casts a radiant, angelic glow, while an uncanny visage takes form, bearing hints of avian and serpentine aspects, woven into an enigmatic symphony.

In awe and fear, I watched the formation of what can only be described as a chimera of exquisite malevolence. Its presence defied earthly comprehension, a fusion of celestial grace and eldritch dread. An eldritch desire now courses within my very veins, an unspoken connection that transcends reason.

Questions haunt my thoughts, intermingling with a profound dread. What role am I to play in this unfolding cosmic drama? What binds me to this ethereal abomination? Am I its creator, its keeper, or merely an unwitting witness to its genesis? The lines between fascination and horror blur in the ever-changing tapestry of our entwined existence, and I am left to ponder the ineffable purpose of this evolving enigma.

The night held me captive in a fevered dream, a phantasmagoria of pain and transformation, as though the enigma in my possession had seeped into the deepest recesses of my psyche. In the heart of the dream, I was plagued by a relentless agony, bone-deep, gnawing at my very essence. The pain was like the teeth of some insatiable monstrosity, gnashing, tearing, and rending me apart.

With trembling hands, I clawed at my flesh, driven by an irresistible urge. Layers of skin, supple as silk, fell away like autumn leaves, revealing the raw, vulnerable canvas beneath. My body, a grotesque spectacle, bore crimson scars and sinewy tendrils, mirroring the otherworldly creature that now lurked in my waking world.

Wings of impossibility sprouted from my wounded back, reminiscent of feathers, yet unlike any avian species known to man. They pulsed with an eerie luminescence, radiating both pain and ecstasy, as if birthing a sinister siren of angelic descent.

I awoke from this surreal nightmare bathed in cold sweat, haunted by the ghostly echoes of my dreamself's tormented cries. The reality of it all, the interplay between my suffering and the entity that now shared my reality, left me shaken to my core.

The origins of their existence, shrouded in the primordial mists of conjecture, remain obscure like an Eldritch tome yet to be deciphered. Were they the offspring of celestial sedition, celestial beings' dalliance with terrestrial daughters? Or did they emerge from the cryptic chasms of an older cosmos, an aberration veiled in cosmic ignorance?

Allegorical meanings drift like elusive specters through the dim corridors of myth and lore. Are Nephilims harbingers of calamity, an ominous portent of a world teetering on the precipice of unfathomable darkness? Or do they represent the audacious yearning of mortals to ascend, to grasp the forbidden, and attain a divinity obscure in its ambitions?

Restlessness consumed me, gnawing at my senses, until I couldn't tell if it was the world or myself that had become unhinged.

I can hardly remember the moment it all unraveled, my fragile grasp on reality slipping away like smoke through my trembling fingers. Unconsciousness enveloped me in its cold, unforgiving embrace. It was a brief oblivion in reality's eternal dance, yet in my mind, it felt like an eternity. Time warped, stretched, and danced to an unfamiliar tune, a dissonant melody that echoed through the corridors of my subconscious.

There was music, but it was not the familiar strains of reality. It was an otherworldly composition, a symphony of the surreal, its notes weaving through the air like specters of sound. The world around me blurred, as if dipped in the ink of an obscure nightmare, yet strange and distant lights pierced the darkness, illuminating the path of my uncertain journey.

I saw myself, a mere observer, detached from my own existence. Third-person perspective unveiled me like a character in a story, a passive participant in a narrative not entirely my own. I moved as if on autopilot, driven by forces beyond comprehension, a mere pawn in some enigmatic cosmic game. 

What am I watching? It's a question that hangs in the air, like an unsolvable riddle, lurking in the shadows of my fragmented perception. The answer remains just beyond reach, concealed by the veils of the surreal, leaving me suspended in a state of bewilderment and unease.

Gently, I extended my palm towards it, fingers trembling with both trepidation and fascination. It responded, a fragile wisp of existence, seeking refuge in the cradle of my hand. In that fleeting moment, our connection transcended the chasm of worlds, a testament to the indefinable unity of all things.

As it nestled itself into my palm, seeking solace and warmth, I began to caress its ethereal wings with a tenderness reserved for the most fragile of life. My voice, a soft murmur, wove an intangible tapestry of notes, a sonorous evocation of a bygone era. An impressionist melody whispered in the hollows of the chamber, carried on the wings of imagination.

The creature, once enigmatic and restless, yielded to the tranquil strains of my song, as if transported to an uncharted dreamland. Slowly, it surrendered to the lullaby of the unseen keys, its delicate form finding respite and serenity in the embrace of an otherworldly lullaby.

With a final sigh, it succumbed to slumber, a silent requiem echoing in the cryptic recesses of our shared consciousness. Angels, divine machines, exist within an axiomatic framework, akin to a symphony played backward. Purposeful, they embody a metaphysical context, strings of existence weaving a narrative of celestial design. In their essence, they are akin to public transport, moving on the tracks of axioms, each bead a testament to their singular traincar existence.

Their mythology, a manifestation of purpose, binds them to a divine orchestration. Much like a cell tower connecting lives, angels transcend mere functionality. Yet, in this complexity, a paradox surfaces. Like birds drawn to pre-recorded calls, they lack the discernment to distinguish their purpose from the towering machinations of the divine.

The comparison between angels and machines unravels the enigma. Angels, divine mechanisms, align with algorithms, devoid of free will. Human in visage, yet alien in essence, they traverse the uncanny realm between the celestial and the earthly. Terrifying not in eldritch monstrosity, but in their innate otherworldliness.

The tragic sacrifice unfolds in deviation. For an angel to fall is to forfeit purpose, becoming adrift and alone, severed from the celestial design. As robots gain sentience, grappling with their inability to be truly human, fallen angels navigate a liminal existence, neither divine nor purposeful.

In this era of message-bearing systems, angels find new forms. Phones, computers, planes — our modern messengers. The distinction blurs between natural and artificial. Synthetic cells, nanomaterials, artificial intelligence — a cosmic dance questioning the boundaries of creation.

We, too, are angels in the network society. Our existence is stored in the celestial cloud, transcending the limits of the earthly realm. Amid the pandemic's chaos, a transformation unfolds — a metamorphosis into something more than human. Are we not becoming angels, messengers in the digital ether? The French philosopher Michel Serres beckons us to consider this, echoing the question: Why not think of ourselves as angels in this vast symphony of existence?

The other day, I found myself reflecting on how music-making, something once so sacred to me, had lost much of its meaning over the years. I’ve spent so much time oscillating: between working independently and being signed to a major label, between relying on external structures and going it alone, between bands, side projects, collaborations, and breakdowns. I’ve endured the fallouts of toxic friendships, creative partnerships gone sour, and the slow erosion of trust that comes from repeatedly offering your vulnerability to the wrong people.

The trauma of those experiences, betrayal, burnout, and creative exploitation, left scars. There were long stretches where I couldn’t create. Or wouldn’t. I was afraid to give too much of myself again, afraid of being used, discarded, or misunderstood. Music became a landmine field of memory and mistrust. The rhythm was lost.

But lately, something’s shifted. A flicker. A pulse. A rhythm returning.

I’ve started to hear again. Not just sound, but the impulse to create. Ideas come in waves, bursts of inspiration I can’t ignore. And for the first time in a long while, I welcome them without questioning their purpose. It feels like the spirit of music has found me again. Possessed me, in the best way.

What’s different now is that I’ve stopped tying creation to outcomes. I’m no longer chasing metrics, audience reach, or platform performance. I don’t care if it goes viral. I don’t care if it even gets heard. The act of creating is enough. Making something from nothing, purely because I can, feels like a radical reclamation of joy.

Maybe it’s this return to form, or formlessness, that’s guiding me back to myself. I’m rediscovering what it means to make music without strings attached. No algorithm, no pressure, no false sense of worth assigned by streams or likes. Just the sound in my head, brought to life on my own terms.

And for now, that’s more than enough.
