Live on CJSW 90.9 FM in Calgary, The 8Bit Ninja brought some funk onto his show. We chatted about this year's FozzyFest, gossip in the music industry, cliches, and random nonsense. I always like playing live on the air as it provides a free-form opportunity to play and feature what I like.

Portal 17 is here already!

As usual, I have constructed another groove. This time using "Dub to the Bone", "Primal Rage" for the Gameboy and "People are Strange" by The Doors. Everything was created live right before your eyes.

I enjoy this so much as it gives me the chance to practise making beats so I can be better but it also allows people who are interested to tune in and just see what I do. I'm not saying what I do is "right" - technically, but to me thats what makes production so fun. Understanding fundamentals and then breaking rules to see what works for you in developing your style.

I truly hope these videos help all of you with learning, crafting and developing your musical style.

To craft a mix that had the exact feel I was looking for, I used 24 tracks in some shape or form, pulling many of them apart, rearranging them and adding liberal ly from my own extensive sample library. It's been a hot minute since I had the mojo and inspo to record a live mix.  Gaddamn, it was long over due.  And just like most DJs think their mix doesn't turn out as good as they want, on the contrary, this little bitty slaps.
