Napolicenco artist Tuccillo return to the electronic sheepfold in order to pronounce with authority in house music area. Take the classic house of Chicago, turn into contemporary, provide it of balearic freshness and make it a powerfull club sound. All this is the greatest passion of the Italian music producer Tuccillo who feel like at home in Ibiza between sheperds. The first surprise is “Resolution” which begin 4x4 beat. Suddenly it turn in unusual percussion which provide playfull spirit to the track. The track´s deep-house progress, with some ad-hoc vocals and submerged melodies wich rise the track in a common and delicious place. The track sounds like broke by these brittle rhythm, constant and rebel which provide it an special and different sound.

“Loulu” shows the Tuccillo´s ballroom dancing face, with his sophisticated sounds which enjoy more if them are submerged under sunset. This is Mediterranean deep, high level buddy. Here there is depth and cadence; the perfectly trained rhythm knows when accelerated and when slowly in perfect harmony with the track, making a sensuous and addictive magic ambient. An evening and sonorous caress to dream. Loulu? Oui, c´est moi!

More club, more dance, more Tuccillo. “Handers” maybe is the track which will make us happy just with some seconds of develop behind the Zafiro´s needle. The sound is punchy and without doubt the frame is deep-clubby. Tuccillo is traditional, but certainly more effective. Those blurred vocals which stroll around the track provide it a ghostly delightfully appearance. Fear & dance in Ibiza.

And finally we arrive to “Dubbio”. Here Tuccillo change the subject, the rhythm is more house and the track´s intentions also. The funk comes up from start to finish. The melody is luminous, jazzy and summery… just great. Here Tuccillo is more Tuccillo than ever, elegant sound; vibrating, sunny and curly… like Tuccillo.

El napolicenco regresa al redil electrónico para volver a sentar cátedra en lo que a la interpretación del house se refiere. Contemporaneizar el clásico sonido parido en Chicago, dotarlo de frescura balearica y hacerlo de forma que siempre funcione en pista -sin perder calidad y riesgo- es lo que más le gusta hacer a este célebre y prestigioso productor italiano, afincado felizmente en Ibiza, que se siente entre pastores como en su casa. Su comienzo 4x4 de pronto se ve comprometido por una inusual percusión, a contra pie, que dota al tema de un aire insual, juguetón… hasta ciertamente encanallado. El desarrollo deep-house del tema, con vocales ad-hoc y melodías soterradas que lo aupan hacia lugares comunes pero delicioso, viene roto por ese ritmo quebradizo, permanente y rebelde que lo hace… diferente.

“Loulu” en cambio muestra al Tuccillo más de salón de baile, al de sonidos sofisticados que disfrutan más si son sumergidos en el sol de media tarde, ese que solea pero no abrasa. Esto es deep mediterráneo de alta cuna y cintura de avispa, camaradas. Aquí hay profundidad, cadencia; el ritmo perfectamente adiestrado sabe acelerarse y parar cuando es requerido para que al ambiente que rodee a este buen tema sea el más sensual, adictivo y mágico posible. Una caricia sonora y vespertina, a la hora de soñar. Loulu? Oui c’ est moi!

Más club, más baile, más Tuccillo. “Handers” es quizá el track que nos alegrará la madrugada con solo varios segundos de desarrollo bajo la aguja de zafiro. Tiene pegada, su armazón es inexcusablemente deep-cluby y, en él, su autor se muestra costumbrista, pero ciertamente más efectivo. Esas voces difuminadas, que deambulan por el tema, le dan un aspecto deliciosamente fantasmal. Miedo y baile en Ibiza.

Y por fin llegamos a “Dubbio”. Aquí el tercio cambia, y de qué forma. El ritmo se ajausiza descaradamente y las intenciones del tema también. El funk salta a la palestra para dejarse ver desde el principio al final. La melodía es luminosa, jazzy, veraniega… ideal. Tuccillo aquí es más Tuccillo que nunca. Sonido elegante, de manual: vibrante, soleado y ensortijado… como él.

En el buen redil de Oblack cada día hay más maestros, así que sí.

JULES & MOSS present THE COKINE COCKEE (OBLACK010)

There is some disco cockiness right here. The right amount of funky with a pinch of house and many other things that we´ll discover as we peel back the layers with ease. The French duet Jules & Moss cook up an EP for Oblack in which the original track is released under the name ´The Cokine Cockee´ and is a right of passage to house, with a slower tempo and cuasi lo-fi frequencies. With such an underground influence like nothing else, after the first play it´s as if you´ve left a tomb full of temptation, sound and low light, very dim. Here you sweat over pink velvet even though your movements are heavy, like a camera in slow motion. Low vocals are ghost like, they give a strange attractiveness to the cut, the cinematic distortion works. Everything tastes black here.

The remix released by Parisian producer Phil Weeks puts ´The Cokine Cockee´ gives proportion to this happy electronic, soft dubby track and helps the house flavor to grow.
It gives a shed load of quality and the effect on the dance floor, it adds backbone to this cool rhythm that, since being synthesized, better highlights this great version. Well Weeks, it´s obvious you know what you´re doing when comes to turning nobs and pushing buttons.

The second track in question ´Cyprine Joyeuse´ by Jules & Moss is a nice house journey with a clear funky incline, a spot of looped guitar like an unexpected guest, in which the percussion marks a playful touch, fun and very danceable. This track has an interesting classic air about it, with a nice yet addictive drop. In the second part of the cut it starts adding synthetic elements that darken the mood, taking away some of the flashing lights from the riff and gives a new look to underground. It has style and feeling, what more can you ask for?

Finally, Jules & Moss in perfect combo with their mate Oliver Woog, present the track “La Redime” ending up with this EP for Oblack. They present the underground side of House, warm and wet, with an analogic touch that really shows a deep face to this release. It is a well developed track, atractive and seductive for the listener, adding up elements bit by bit with a very sweet taste. It is a hidden bomb that will surprise many of you. No doubt!

Aquí hay vacile disco, descaro funkoide, apostura indefectiblemente houssie y algunas cosas más que iremos desvelando de forma suavecita, sin que duela. El dúo formado por los franceses Jules & Moss se cocinan un EP para Oblack en el que el tema original que da nombre a dicha entrega “The Cokine Cockee” es una suerte de pasaje de house a baja velocidad y frecuencias cuasi lo-fi’s, con altísimo influjo underground que nada más ya, en la primera escucha, parece salir de una catacumba llena de vicio, sonido y poca luz, muy poca luz. Aquí se suda sobre el terciopelo magenta a pesar de que los movimientos son cadenciosos, lentos, como a cámara lenta. Lo vocal es fantasmal, le añade una extrañeza atractiva al corte, la distorsión cinemática funciona. Todo sabe a negro y está caliente.

El remix que firma el productor parisino Phil Weeks le proporciona a este “The Cokine Cockee” alegría electrónica, un rollo suave dubby y le acrecienta el acento house. Suma kilates de cara a su efecto en la pista de baile, le añade hierro al asunto y ese ritmo quedón que, desde lo sintetizado, es lo más destacado de esta buena revisión. Bien Weeks, se nota que bien sabes lo que te traes ente manos y máquinas.

El segundo tema en discordia -“Cyprine Joyeuse”- de Jules & Moss es una suerte de viaje house con claro ascendente funky, con punteo de guitarra loopeado como inesperado protagonista, en el que lo percusivo marca un devenir juguetón, divertido y bailón. Tiene este track un aire atemporal interesante, una pegada amable pero adictiva. En la segunda parte del corte se va sumando elementos sintéticos que lo van oscureciendo, lo atemperan, le restan un poco de esa luz destellante del riff y lo fijan de nuevo a lo underground. Tiene rollazo y feeling, ¿qué más se puede pedir?

Finalmente Jules & Moss, perfectamente sinergiados con su colega el también francés Oliver Woog, presentan, para cerrar este ep para Oblack, su tema “La Redime”. Aquí inciden en esta forma de ver el house desde un sotano húmedo y cálido. Suena todo mucho más analógico, como a más de verdad, aunque igualmente subterráneo. El desarrollo del corte está bien alicatado, como mandan los cánones, va sumando elementos –instrumentos y vocales- que le aportan seducción y dejan en el oyente, y danzante, un regusto raro pero amable, una sensación para repetir. Será el temazo a descubrir en un EP en el que parece hacer de tapadillo y, oh, aquí es donde salta la sorpresa.

This 'Bigger Easy' which comes signed by Los Pastores & Juliche Hernández -and which is the 20th release from the valencian label  Oblack- gives closure to an aesthetic and conceptual era, opening up a new one. For this awaited release Snna and Nacho Arauz have teamed up with their good friend -Dj and producer from the Canary Islands- Juliche Hernández (DownHill Music), in order to gather all their talents to come up with one of the most clubby, dance floor oriented tracks from the house Oblack. 'Bigger Easy' contains two original tracks 'Bigger Easy' and 'Get Back' and a remix of the last one, by japanese -Berlin based producer Tomoki Tamura (Holic Trax).  
 
'Bigger Easy' (Original Mix) is a golden ticket to the dancefloor from the very first beat, spreading out a hot and steady percussive fantasy,  -clearly influenced by african music- which takes us on a trip to the middle of the dancefloor. An explosion of vocoder vocals suddenly follows, leading our path towards a vibrantly mad tech-house affair, highly underground and addictive. This is the perfect soundtrack for a night out in an imaginary Medellin, full of dancing and white mist.  
 
In 'Get Back' the occasional trio -formed by Los Pastores and Juliche Hernández- stick to a shinny tech-house approach, vocationally club, equipped with the perfect tempo, an intense colour and a playful groove, which is Oblack’s signature. This time, the sounds are reminiscing Chicago and N.Y.C. The vocals, almost hip-hop alike, are the key in a track which becames acid at times, and breaks down into a happy path which invites to join the dancefloor.  
 
The remix of 'Get Back' by Tomoki Tamura is such a pleasant surprise. His approach leans on a much more techno bet -primitive and oldschool- closer to Detroit than to anything else but at the same time  keeping the percussive and metallic hi hats just like in the original track. Alien synths compressed in an “oldie but new” remix which indicates both, excellent taste and eagerness to innovate. Well, done Tomoki. You nailed it.

ONNO has evolved from a bedroom DJ in Holland to playing some of Berlin's finest clubs including Panorama Bar and Watergate, whilst also releasing on a plethora of labels including Viva, Get Physical and Moon Harbour. Meanwhile, Per Hammar has been building a following with his Dirty Hands and 10Years labels when not appearing on Danse Club Records, Extravaganza and Avotre. With such impressive backgrounds, it is easy to see why label heading duo Los Pastores chose ONNO & Per Hammar for the next release in the Oblack Digital Series.

Opening with the release's title track, we are instantly hit by swinging percussion on top of a grooved low- end, otherworldly synths and the occasional transitional vocal lick. Frankfurt’s Chris Wood provides the first remix, gripping motifs and warped samples give the track an intense energy before Beste Modus co-owner Diego Krause’s crunching drums and distorted bass give his take on ‘Mad Palace’ a murky feel.

ONNO & Per Hammar’s ‘Restored Muse’ offers a more dubbed out atmosphere with subtly complex percussive rhythms, captivating variations and delayed chords echoing throughout until Los Pastores transform the track into a powerful dancefloor cut with weighted bass tones and mesmerising risers which underpin the synthesised oddities from the original.

ALEX FONT presents “NOW IS MY TIME” (OBLACK 005)

Alex Font is a serious guy who knows that now is his time. A multi-instrumentalist, as well as a producer and DJ, he can sometimes be seen on stage in trademark shirt and bow tie. He declares himself a lover of vinyl and, above all, what he calls real house. I think that says it all.

'NOW IS MY TIME' is the fifth release on the Oblack label and is available in black vinyl and digital. It is undeniable proof that Alex Font has arrived and is now a permanent force on the House scene, mainly in soul and dance, but who also knows how to reinvent his sound using new tech. Always with an eye on the future of sound innovation, he still manages to keep hold of his roots and respect his great influences. Well, nothing less would do. On this EP you can tell that Alex Font (remember, this is one serious guy) knows what he has in his hands and spinning on his turntable. His knowledge of musical composition, harmony and engineering skills jump out at you as soon as the first beat of 'Now is my time' hits the speakers: darkness, sophistication, soul and groove. There’s a perfect command of tempo, of where, when and how. You pick up on the instrumental skills which allow him to do what he wants, when he wants. That's what's so great about this: you're struck by the ease of how such perfect technique and astoundingly good taste come together. Digitally analogical (or is it the other way round?), this is the deeply profound vs. the dancefloor. It fascinates and liberates, carrying you off through different dimensions before breaking out of itself, with no need for artificial fanfares as it’s so perfectly defined by Chicagoan pianos, hi-hats, funkoid vocals, etc. He’s simply extraordinary: Alex Font signed by Oblack 005.

The remix by Martinez gives this track a technical edge and club splendor. Leaving out the more classic elements of house that are present in the original, the Swedish producer slows things down so that it doesn’t lose any of its elegance, but at the same time the track gains punch on the dancefloor, and there's no doubt that it works. As cool as it is effective at inciting dance and  everything else that comes with gyrating your pelvis in the early hours of the morning.

Finally, the Argentinian Shall Ocin plays the scoundrel here by adding diverse electronic elements that take the track into a new dimension. By giving the vocal more prominence, here it takes centre stage, and over a well-layered tech-house base, it makes the tremendous savoir faire of the original literally surf, while at the same time respecting and completing it.

ALEX FONT presenta “NOW IS MY TIME” (OBLACK 005)

Alex Font es un tipo serio. Y sabe que este es su momento. Es músico multiinstrumentista y además productor y dj. A veces pincha con camisa y pajarita y se declara un amante, sobre todo y además del vinilo, de lo que él mismo denomina como “The real house”… creo que sobran más explicaciones. 

Este “Now is my time” que supone la quinta referencia del sello pastoril Oblack, y que se edita en bello vinilo y oportuno digital, es la prueba irrefutable de que Alex Font es un numerario del house -a priori clasicón por soulero y festivo- que sabe contemporaneizarse adecuadamente con sonidos tech. Siempre mirando al futuro, a través de la innovación sonora, pero sin despreciar las raíces y respetando los cánones… faltaría más. En este EP se le nota a Alex Font –insistimos, es un tipo serio- que sabe lo que se lleva entre manos y máquinas. Sus estudios de composición musical, armonía e ingeniería sonora saltan a la escucha en cuanto el primer beat de este “Now is my time” comienza a sonar. Negritud, sofisticación, soul y groove. Un perfecto dominio de los tempos. Un saber donde, cuando y como. Destreza instrumental en tanto en cuanto a “hago lo que quiero y cuando quiero”… así da gusto. Llama la atención la soltura que proporciona una alicatadísima técnica y un buen gusto apabullante. Digitalmente analógico, ¿o es al contrario? Tan deep vs. pistero. Un fascinante y libérrimo tema que va pasando por diferentes estadios -hasta romper en todo lo alto pero sin estridencias artificiosas- perfectamente delimitados por pianos chicaguenses, hit-hats, vocales funkoides, etc. Extraordinario este Alex Font que firma el Oblack 005, sin paliativos.

El remix que rubrica Martinez le aporta fijeza tech y esplendor club. Prescindiendo de los elementos más propios del classic house del tema original el productor sueco lo technifica a velocidad media, para que no pierda elegancia pero así disfrute de mayor pegada en el dancefloor. Y vaya si lo logra, que duda cabe. Tan cool como efectivo a la hora de incitar al baile y esas agradables cosas que conlleva el contoneo de pelvis a horas intempestivas.

Por último el argentino Shall Ocin juega a encanallar el tema sumándole elementos electrónicos diversos que lo enjuguescan. A través de una mayor presencia de lo vocal –aquí pasa a primerísimo término- y sobre una base tech-house bien marcada sabe hacer surfear el tremendo “savoir faire” del original. Lo respeta y completa.

En fin Alex, que bien que sepas que es tu momento y que lo quieras compartir, a través de Oblack e incluso en vinilo, con todos nosotros. Gracias camarada.

Alex Font - Now Is My Time (Martinez Remix)

E.B.O present “I TOLD YA“ (OBLACK 007) Vinyl & Digital

Behind E.B.O´s misteryous initials are Sex Ed, B- NY and Odille Lima. Now as band with a powerfull live and well-made remixers, E.B.O consolidate their project through this new EP, published in Oblack Label. “I told ya” has a soft-house, pop & soul way in wich the rhythmic and electrical bassline with the warm and sexy Odille Lima´s voice provide elegance, authenticity and timeless to the track. His strange groove, between carnal and robotic, supported on velvety volcals became this track in a synthetic and deep oasis in contrast of many commercial tech-house and EDM. Finally… some good music!

The remixes of this new jewel of Oblack called “I told Ya” in EP format, are of Los Pastores, Pele & Shawnecy and Fabian Argomedo. The bucolic pair from Valencia (Los Pastores) take the track, approach it to them and inmerse it in a kind of slow and foggy far tour-mix. Sure that you dance it this summer at dusk!

On the other hand Pele & Shawnecy climb it to a tech-house field, to provide punch, rhythm and seriousness clubbing. They don’t minimize anything of the track, just make more powerfull and danceable with a view to end of afternoon and the beginning of special night.

Finally Fabian Argomedo custom the track´s house-pop skeleton, change the sound and throw it to the dancefloor. Now the track sounds distand, obscure, frisky… what a seductive and misteryous vocals! Like a snake when bites an apple in front of our own eyes.

Es que tras estas misteriosas siglas de E.B.O se parapetan Sex Ed, B-NY y Odille Lima y claro así pasa lo que pasa. Ahora como banda, con potente live y ascendiente remixero de pro, consolidan su apuesta a través de este ep, publicado a través del sello pastoril Oblack, en una suerte de pasaje de soft-house-soul-pop en el que el rítmico y electroso bassline y la voz sugerente, cálida y sexy de la gibraltareña Odille Lima lo reviste todo de clase, autenticidad y atemporalidad electrónica. Su extraño groove, ente carnal y robótico, apoyado sobre ese aterciopelamiento vocal provoca que este track sea un oasis sintético, deepero y sureño, entre tanto tech-house de hojalata y EDM de radiofórmula barata. ¡Al fin, música!

Los remixes de esta nueva joyita, en formato EP, de Oblack llamada “I told ya” viene firmados, nada más y nada menos, que por Los Pastores, Pele & Shawnecy y Fabian Argomedo. El bucólico dúo valenciano pilla el tema por la cintura, se lo pega al cuerpo y lo sumergen en una especie de Túrmix ralentizada y brumosa, llevándoselo a un elegante y cosmopolita redil ubicado en un lugar remoto en el que luce hasta el infinito y más allá. Lo bailarás este verano, al caer la tarde sobre tu melena rubia, fijo.

Por su parte Pele & Shawnecy lo suben hasta estancias más tech-houssies, dotándolo de pegada, ritmo y seriedad clubby. No le restan luz ni un gramo de atractivo al tema, solo lo potencian y animan de cara a una pista de baile en la que ya la tarde ha dejado de serlo para dar paso a una noche ciertamente prometedora.

Finalmente Fabian Argomedo customiza su esqueleto house-pop y tras pegarle un maqueo sonoro, desde dentro hacia fuera, lo arroja contra el dancefloor. Aquí suena esquivo, sibilino, juguetón… Recta seductora, ¡oh, qué extrañeza vocal!, como una serpiente para terminar de morder la manzana -¿o son dos cerezas-, ante nuestros propios ojos.

En fin, E.B.O, y más concretamente bella Odille Lima, después de este temazo, ya somos tuyos para siempre.

E.B.O - I Told Ya (Fabian Argomedo Remix)

From 2012 the label Oblack was set up as an exclusive platform of music expression of Los Pastores, Snna and Nacho Arauz. From Valencia -if Ibiza excuses us- this label bets on undergound house produced on a digital platform, and especially vinyl. Up until now, several artists have released on the label: Luke Solomon, Justin Harris, Yaya, Tuccillo, Filsonik, Brett Johnson, Jay Haze, Phil Weeks, Djebali, Italoboyz or Neverdogs, among others. Their releases- with the highligts of 'Other Sentido EP’, ‘Smoke Game EP’ and 'Discover Base EP' -have been played by masters such as Luciano, Richie Hawtin, Apollonia, The Martinez Brothers, Loco Dice, Mirko Loko, Catz N Dogz and Ricardo Villalobos. They have currently have put out 19 releases, and they have signed as producers 11 of those in vinyl. At present, their 'Vinyl Only' project is the one they feel the most excited about, in so far as it brings back the most genuine format for djs, the 12”. In this new division they have released their first album- under the name of ‘Los Pastores with collaborations’- in which they have guests as System2, Javi Bora, Aldo Cadiz, Juliche Hernandez and Hanfry Martinez. 


Moreover, since 2013 their already infamous 'Oblack Label Nights' have taken their very own signature all around Spain. In this parties they have shared the dj booth with artists like Yaya, Tuccillo, Phil Weeks, Arado, Andrew Grant, Tato, Filsonik or Neverdogs, organising also their successful and acclaimed dates in Ibiza venues such as Destino, No Name, Sankeys or City Hall in Barcelona.
