Nicolas Estany is known for his silken synth productions and lurid live shows under his moniker Visonia. Born in the shadows, this mini-album presents a new sound by the Chilean.

Bruised beats, crushed compositions and lacerated lyrics are the new terrain explored, percussion melting with voice in the morphing “The Brain Plays With Me”and shapeshifting “Don’t Trust In The First Whispers". Drums are bolstered across the sextet, rain and rust clinging to brutalised “Who Will Enter First” before rage and warmth melt in “Aphasia.” Yet, in spite of these darker machinations, that unmistakable balance of Visonia is present; it dawns in the title piece with its woebegone words, before resurfacing in the furtive liquid electronics of “Melted Doubts.

We have an unexpected guest mix, and it's the best I've heard in months - not just in terms of message and energy. Firstly, it's an accurate accounting of the current state of mind and the "mode of sensibility" into which everything that was vivid and real in the so-called "Russian industrial underground" has evolved. And secondly, no matter how insistent the authors are in their reclusiveness, this mix is exactly about what Russian war deprives us of: freedom, freedom to choose and normal abnormality.

У нас неожиданный гостевой микс, и это лучшее, что я слышал за последние месяцы —не только в плане посыла и энергетики. Во-первых, это точная инвентаризация нынешнего состояния и «расширенного режима чувствительности», в которые эволюционировало все, что было живого и настоящего в т.н. «русском индустриальном подполье». А во-вторых, как бы не упорствовали авторы в затворничестве, этот микс ровно о том, чего нас эта война лишает: свободы, свободы выбора и нормальной ненормальности.

Как утверждают авторы, внутри вы найдете непростой синтез по мотивам творений таких великих, как Пациэнд, Тзусинг, Лана Дель Рей, Морван, Бэд Лсд Трипс, Дес Ин Джун, Му-Га, Кимшиз ремиксед бай Муфти, Александр Ганд, Тесте, Сауерстоффф, Лоуэр Тар, Беллатрикс, Асимметрикал и прочие моджахеды Роу Калче, Анна Фанк Дэмедж, месье Декабрь и т.п. Принимать микстуру строго по рецепту великого архитектора «Дома на говне»: «Спилите перетяжки смысла, и упадут платья и откроется перед вами великолепие, которое вы так тщетно ищите».

MAF MIX is our new project with our Luhansk-born friend Kyrylo B., also known as Chris Gottschalk - DJ and promoter, co-founder of UM LAUT event series in Leipzig.

It is a series of curated podcasts aiming to fight the underrepresentation of diverse artists from Eastern Europe sharing anti-imperialist values and facing modern challenges not on the dancefloors only.

We are thrilled to share the first podcast made by bodyasick — an independent music producer and DJ from Mykolaiv — a city in the south of Ukraine. Currently located in Poznań, he is known not only as a unique artist but also as a runner of a charity initiative RIDNE.MP3.

Bogdan Kuzmin is mostly recognized by his passion for groovy breaks, robotic synths and liminal percussions. This sound philosophy is brought to you by the selection of tracks written only by Ukrainian producers in this podcast as well. 

Events hosted by Oramics, Orbitrax, MAF and many others have already heard Bodya’s exceptional sound, with even more yet to come.
