Oblique Quartet is an avant-rock-noise band from Mexico City / New York City founded in 2014 on the occasion of a free improv concert at one of Mexico City’s most adventurous museums, Laboratorio Arte Alameda. The group features Ron Anderson on guitar (US), Marco Fierro on analog synthesizers (MX), Carlos Fierro on bass (MX) and Azael González on drums (MX). In 2015, the band released Tlaloc Beat their debut CD on the Mexican label Alphatauri Records and performed music from Tlaloc Beat at concerts in Mexico City (Multiforo Cultural Alicia and Casa Max Rojas). Oblique Quartet is planning a new album for 2016 and has been invited to play at Tomorrow Festival in Shenzhen, China.

The quartet gathers a diverse musical background from each member. Veteran guitarist Ron Anderson’s innovative sound is well-known in New York’s Downtown Music scene as well as in clubs and festivals across Europe and Asia. The Fierro brothers have been a driving force in Mexico City’s avant music community for over two decades. Marco Fierro brings a powerful noise to the band with his experimental synthesizers, while Carlos Fierro holds down a hypnotic groove, that at any moment can be turned into grindcore improvisation. At the center of Oblique Quartet is their high energy drummer Azael González. His powerful rhythmic patterns are the driving force behind the music.
