Grammy-nominated and internationally acclaimed producer Nic Fanciulli returns to Defected with ‘Vente’ in collaboration with Miami natives Calussa. The globally revered producer and Saved Records boss is no stranger to Defected success, with summertime anthem ‘I Want You’ with Butch and his edit of A’Studio’s ‘S.O.S’ garnering acclaim from house fans and choice selectors alike. Now he works with Calussa, comprised of siblings Andrew and Gino Gomez, who are known for their multi-disciplinary approach to music, writing, performing and producing their own tracks and taking inspiration from Latin and Afro tech. ‘Vente’ is a culmination of these artist’s signature sounds, with Calussa’s far-reaching influences combining with the sleek and arresting production of Fanciulli for a bona fide future club anthem.

The release of last year’s FORTE marked the 20th anniversary for Pan-Pot, a colle past, present and future, now gets reworked by a careful selection of artists who’ve productions. Giorgia Angiuli’s rework of ‘Utopia’ takes the progressive energy of the original and electricity. The Italian is also a composer and multi-instrumentalist who moves bet her vocals to create dreamy dimensions. With her remix of ‘Utopia’ she toughens u and diminished lyrics, making a more distorted vocal presence to the original.

Gary Beck returns to Mutual Rytm as he unveils a selection of impactful cuts across his debut 12” on
the label, ‘Upside Criminal’.

Bek Audio boss and Glasgow techno mainstay Gary Beck has long been a key figure in the scene with a unique sound that has shaped a vast discography. One of the genre’s best, with appearances across iconic institutions and collaborations with legendary talents, he is a definitive talent. Returning to SHDW’s Mutual Rytm imprint, his new EP lands following his recent appearance on the label’s ‘Federation Of Rytm III’ VA, with the tracks on the package proving as go-to favourites for the label boss over recent months.

“Mutual Rytm has been nothing short of inspirational to me over the last years. I've been playing almost
everything from the label, as the tracks really suited what I was selecting in my DJ sets. The high-quality output really got my juices going to create something for the label, and I was delighted when Marco liked what I sent.

This EP signals exactly where I am musically. I'm an absolute sucker for tracks with relentless groovy energy and little breaks, so it felt like a perfect fit. Tracks from the EP have been an absolute joy to play in my sets recently, and I'm so excited to deliver this EP on my current favourite label, Mutual Rytm.” - Gary Beck.

The powerful 'Upside Criminal' kicks off with hammering drums and pounding hits that create an inescapable wall of sound that will dominate dance floors of any size. 
There is more loopy energy to 'Sambana' with its ever more jagged synth stabs and fizzing drum textures while 'Pepper Track' is a futuristic techno workout with rattling snares and mutant synth details peeling off the straight-up groove. 
'Rejected' is built around trapped vocal fragments that swirl about the mix to a disorientating effect as the high-speed drums and sheet metal synths race onwards, ‘while Ghost' closes out with a subtle sense of uplifting celebration from the synths that rise up through rusty, rickety techno grooves.

Digital Bonus 'Variation 6.1' offers another searing and funky techno stomp, once again providing an extra gem for digital purchasers.

Len Faki returns as Hardspace for part three of his new remix-series, giving his favorite tunes a new life on the dancefloor. 

An unusual pairing at first glance, Hardspace takes up Soundstream’s anthem Love Jam from 2006, the kind of Detroit-tinged disco edit to drop in the peak moment of techno set. 

Then it’s rewind time to another decade, when DnB-Veteran Alex Reece was remixing Motorcity icon Kenny Larkin. Hardspace’s mix of Loop 2 retains the playful jazzy notes and growling bassline of the original and turns its oldschool breakbeats into a snappy 4x4-groove. 

The deadly effective tool that is Andrei Morant’s Simple Addition makes for a perfect base to build upon for Faki’s signature editing style, emphasizing the plastic shuffle of grooving percussive elements while adding some booming low-end. 

DJ Rush features with two vocal-heavy cuts on this release: first up the Russian Roulette-hymn I Believe, which sounds even trippier in the stripped-back Hardspace version; then a creepy while sexy mix of Don’t You Love Me that steadily builds tension for minutes before slowly giving way to a seductive beat. 

Closing out with a bang, Damon Wild’s Gearbox from 1995 gets a rework: the full power acid-riff is still working its magic but now sounding much more punchy and to the point in this tidied up Hardspace edit.

Hardspace Volume Three

After Bastinov ´s  solid release, Etruria continues  his aim to promote new italian talents . Now it’s time for  Tuscany ´s duo Reform , who you could already find on our last Bud Sampler .
This 25th release  features  4 tracks, incredibly different from each other, like the Ep title says , they create a true path through interesting electronic sounds.
 
First track, “The Clear Path”,  a killer dancefloor tune, which combines great, grooved drums underlaying a strong bassline topped by two powerful and melodic synths . The first one is riffing the main melody and the other one, brings a  magic touch to the ensemble .
following is Marco Effe’s remix . The Berlin based producer gives its own special touch , with incredible reverbered drums, an arpeggiated synth based on the original, but completely reworked. A real trip, that first takes the audience thru a mental abstraction , then rudely back to the dancefloor with a punchy  techno kick / bass marriage .
We continue our journey thru sound with the third track : a second remix , this time from German producer Raphael Dincsoy . Energy , Dancefloor Hypnotic , monophonic sounds are some of the adjective to characterize this third track .
 “The Agreement” is closing the release : a cut up game of voices,  played alternately towards  a huge “moog style” synth which appears after the first drop and evolves till the track ends .
 
This is Reform, and this is how they want to express their sonic and  music path, soaked into analog machines and vinyl sound , explosive and energetic .

Reform - The Agreement (Original Mix)

This next release from label boss Boris, delivers a masterpiece for a big-room warehouse techno setting. Language possesses all the dark rolling drum patterns, heavy percussions and heaping layers that make up a classic industrial techno piece. Carlo Lio adds in pronounced kick and sizzling hi¢s that continue to grow throughout the track, creating an energetic swell in the room. Language is one of those tracks that cannot contain its ability to take-over any size room.

Layton Giordani makes his Truesoul debut with a pumping, three track release. The high energy tracks showcase Layton’s youthful and fresh approach to production. ‘Unspoken’, holding a pounding kick drum and thumping techno sound, is the heavier of the three tracks whilst ‘Misunderstood’ and ‘Trusting You’ cut a lighter groove. The samples are uplifting, sounds imaginative and the percussion is tight - this EP is not to be missed.

Andrea Gengaroli and Ludovico Bracciali of the Italian duo Reform have only been releasing music since 2016 but they’ve already made quite the splash in Techno circles, receiving support from the biggest names in the scene. Tensions are running high on their fourth release on Second State, the Quartet EP, following another two releases on Luca Agnelli’s Etruria beat label. Quartet is a masterclass in driving drama built for big rooms. 

The title track “Quartet” sets the mood early with a tickling kick, ricocheting synths and a thrilling energy that never relents, pulling you ever further into a state of oblivion. “Midnight” goes in an eerier direction, its arpeggiating synth line and clever use of negative space solidly evoking the witching hour, as dark as it is enticing. Ice-blast synths seem destined to be paired with smoke machines in “Stranger”, another typically gothic entry from the duo that plays out like compelling dream sequence, complete with hypnotizing repeated vocal. “Juice”, meanwhile, starts out in that trance-like state but quickly assumes a livelier guise thanks to flute-like rave synths and an ever-present kick that helps bring the track and the EP overall to a blistering boil.

Quartet, Reform’s second EP on Second State, is electrifying, rave-ready techno at its best from a pair with a track record of hitting all the right notes.
