Constantly reimagining the way they make noise, the Brigado Crew have experimented endlessly to construct this retro-super-futuristic dynamo.

Channeling the groundswell of optimism from the ‘good old days,’ the Brigado Crew work all kinds of collaborative miracles, using modern production techniques to lend the album some depth and tension.

From the live studio recordings made on original 80’s synthesizers to the myriad of feature artists, ‘Symbiosis’ takes a broad brush to the sonic palette.

The ephemerally haunted vocals of Jessica Zese soar over post-disco grooves in the opening track ‘Calamity’. The softly-focused synths of this cut are a balm to the propulsive, industrial heartbeat of the album.

Always upping the ante is Ubbah, who serves up his signature deep, dark techno vibes in many of the album’s peak-time cuts.

More than Human and Haptic embody futurism with a nod to 80’s acid rave, the alienesque vocals of Haptic floating through ‘Voids of Space,’ a cut which is just gagging to be played out on a really loud sound system.

You’ll be leaning into the cascading percussive shakedowns and diving deep into the chant-along lyrics of esteemed British producer & vocalist Thomas Gandey in ‘Find You’, a totally Shazamable cut.

Another secret weapon in your arsenal of dance-floor ready bangers is ‘Face the Music’. Featuring the anthemic vocals of Aves Volare, this cut commands movement, its tremulous basslines creating a sensation of motion that shimmers in the air.

8kays delivers a convincingly hard edge to ‘Robotic Destination’, a hot-blooded, club-focused track that gets all up in your face.

Dipping in and out of post-post-modernism, while reaching far into the great beyond, ‘Symbiosis’ ordains the Brigado Crew as the patron saints of future-forward throwbacks.

The seventh serving of Dessert is the work of Dumming Dum, an Italian artist currently based in London.DESSERT007 features two of Dumming Dum original productions alongside two very tasteful flips by Murat Uncuoglu and Baime.

The release leads with Aeden, a slow-burning chunk of industrial power house. Led by an alternating off-kilter vocal hook, it's dense layers of vintage drums and synthwork combine to conjure up a tantalisingly intense dancefloor trip. Sitting more towards the chugging end of the tempo spectrum, the slower BPM only adds more weight to the track's potency.

Second track Hononest takes on a more colourful hue, drawing strands from Italo, electro and acid house before honing them into a formidable concoction. The softer yin to Aeden's yang, its chopped female vocals provide the focal point while the arpeggiated synths behind it kick like clockwork.

The emotional peak of the record undoubtedly comes in the form of Murat Uncuoglu's stellar remix of Aeden. Working closely with the original, Uncuoglu ladens it with subtle percussive layers before steering it starwards. Rolling out a memorable, deliciously disjointed melody in the breakdown, his version is an eight minute masterclass in emotive techno.

Copenhagen-based duo Baime's Aeden remix closes out the release with aplomb, tapping into the tension and drive of the original while opening it up further with panoramic atmospherics. The addition of snarling saw-wave synths lends a grittier flex to a track which is guaranteed to do damage on many dancefloors.

New Shoes 005 (10 Minute Tech House Set)

Over a 15-year period Truesoul has set the standard for engaging and effective club music, drawing in fans from across the techno spectrum. A relentless dedication to quality means it’s logistically impossible for Adam Beyer to release music from all the impressive artists who send him tracks each year for Truesoul. This EP showcases four such outstanding cuts, all of which have been tried and tested in Beyer’s sets in recent months. Indeed, anyone who witnessed his deliciously groove-ridden daytime set at Sonus Festival in August (or listened via episode DCR370), would have already been treated to an unofficial preview of the release. 

Belgian’s Ramon Tapia kicks the EP off in superb style with ‘Hexagon’, an energetic slice of techno that builds towards a pumping finish. Fast rising Manchester duo OC & Verde team up with Italian producer Veerus for ‘Naaki’, the track highlighted by a rousing call-to-arms vocal that saw it go down a storm during Beyer’s annual gig on the Amnesia Terrace for Cocoon in Ibiza. The beautiful vocal-led ‘Take My Life’ follows courtesy of Spaniard Marc Marzenit, adding an extra dimension to the release, while still having enough percussive fizz to keep the dancefloor moving. Southampton’s Ronnie Spiteri is another emerging talent to create waves in 2017 and he delivers the knockout blow with ‘Sugar Lips’, a chunky soul-infused offering that’ll be effective in house and techno sets alike.
