We were extremely excited to welcome Ricardo Castro as our guest DJ for episode 78 of Technoir on Fnoob Techno Radio.

Ricardo Castro is one of the most creative artists in the scene in London. He started running events back in his hometown in the early 2000's.

He organised and curated events like Berlin Berlin and currently promote and run the events Dark Room, Subversa & Slimelight in London.

His sets are a journey into dark sounds mixing dark techno, dark electro and modern EBM.

Ricardo’s mix for Technoir is an astonishing, full tilt set, for the most discerning and deviant of dance floors!

After the stoppage we have suffered due to the current problem in the supply of physical discs, we have decided to release this compilation in digital format to overcome the material obstacles that hinder the release of music.
After three years of starting our journey as a label, we take stock of what we have learned and where we want to be. Under The Stone is the result of a conscious awareness of the spectacularized and speculative electronic music that prevails today.A conscious and proud stance regarding the consumerist concepts of macro festivals and selfies that distort the idea of collective culture. The title refers to the double movement involved in lifting a stone. On the one hand, discovering the extraordinary ecosystem that is hidden underneath, and on the other, the act of throwing away the stone that was keeping it crushed.
This album brings together a few artists, some to be discovered and others more established, but who share a common denominator, powerful sound and a challenge to established consumption clichés. We want to thank all the artists who are part of the compilation for giving shape and meaning to the idea that orbits this release.

BIO:
SoFabYouDie is a British-Algerian curator, graphic designer, artist, DJ and activist based in Paris. They have been active in the queer Parisian scene for the past two years, playing in clubs like Electrowerkz in London or Petit Bain in Paris. Their sets act as catharsis in an increasingly violent world, deliberately fighting trends with EBM and metal sounds. They founded the independent magazine and label Agressive(s) in 2021, to (re)politicise dancefloors and create alternative queer spaces and representations.

This is the return of the collaborative project ‘VOFA’, by Sawf and ANFS, on Pi Electronics. The Athens based duo, that put out the label’s debut release, deliver another 4-tracker of their signature sound for the 5th Pi record. PI05.1 is a bass line oriented composition of thrilling beauty, while PI05.2 and PI05.4 provide different takes on the main PI05 theme: one leaning closer to UK breaks’ influences and the other closer to industrial, hard hitting broken beats. Pi05.3 offers a driving tool of distorted realities and tuning bass lines. All tracks showcase further focus on sound texture and dynamics’ balance, providing a perfect blend of Sawf and ANFS in joint forces as VOFA.

For our eleventh release we are excited to be working with five artists who are all new to the label. 

Rendered open proceedings on side A with a nod to COIL in their psychedelically propulsive workout Analstairface. End Train follows, steering his machines with tactile precision between acerbic acid lines and cavernous synths, crashing through a brutal onslaught of splintered beats that finally open into space. 

Side B starts with the claustrophobic tension of WarinD’s Still Left In There, featuring Huren’s disembodied snarl, tearing at the relentless machine funk. This is followed by the insistent, martial urgency of Distant’s Hydrargyra, scaling vast heights of immaculate sonic architecture to an emotional pinnacle that is finally resolved in the EBM drenched romanticism of Lapse of Reason’s Go Away.

The solo project of Amandine Stioui, current member of Parisian darkwave band, Minuit Machine, Imchaos began in 2019 and she has quickly made a name for herself with electrifying sets and her first track, “What Starts In Chaos”, was just released on Sestra Records and her debut EP is expected in Spring 2021. New Brvtalism No. 263 takes us through her sound, touching on multiple genres from EBM, techno, wave and more while also journeying through dynamic moods and atmospheres.
