A mastermind of his own sound, Bonga Ntozini - better known as Karyendasoul - has founded his career on an ever evolving understanding of sonic and musical sophistication. Karyendasoul makes his debut on SHÈN Recordings with 'Isambulo'. Over the past two years, Karyendasoul has leaned toward producing more uplifting, vocal-driven tracks. However, since March this year, he has been reconnecting with the darker, edgier, and more experimental sound that first defined him when he entered the Afro Tech scene in 2018. Known for creating music tailored for clubs and festivals, this signature style is now making a return, enriched by the inspiration he’s drawn from his global touring experiences. What a start to Selador’s twelfth year. We were delighted when Dilby debuted for us recently with the vocal gem ‘Give It Up Again’ – and we’re doubly delighted to follow it up in double quick time with this essential EP. 

The Berlin-based Kiwi straddles genres effortlessly, and subsequently finds his tunes in the boxes of a wide variety of DJs. This stellar selection will no doubt follow suit. 

We kick things off with ‘Sacred Ground’ a majestic roller with a classic ‘90s feel that hits the spot in all the right places before dropping to a distinctive ‘dread’ vocal. ‘Closer’ then steps up with its rolling percussive intro paving the way for duelling riffs, a real early ‘00s classy heads down vibe for this one. And our titanic triptych is completed by the aforementioned ‘Give It Up Again’, which is more than worthy of another trip round the block as a reminder of its undeniable potency.
