A mingling of immersive atmospheres including everything from slowly shifting tonalies to insistent rhythms, murmurmurmurmur by Moogk plays out on inorganic and altered instruments peppered with snatches of bird song, soft purring, church bells, crashing ocean waves and human (and not-so-human) voices.

Serpen Sonatas is a set of pieces for solo woodwind instruments written by Chris Fitkin and performed by international musicians Davide Bonomo, Carolina Prado, Lindsey Wiehl and Teresa Castañón.

Each piece in Serpen Sonatas includes both slow, quiet sections with no obvious underlying rhythm as well as highly rhythmic and extremely precise faster passages. There’s no key and no key signature, and the instruments are sometimes pushed to their limits in different ways. There is also a perception of distance and proximity – where long notes grow from silence, pass us by and return to another silence and faster notes seem nearer, not wandering off into remoteness, separation or ultimate detachment. 

The pieces of Serpen Sonatas tend to start quietly with a slightly distant feel. So it’s best not to turn the volume level too high, or later in the pieces the music may become over loud.

Imne is a collection of pieces written for strings and woodwinds by Morganstine and is the second album by the musician for Obsistent Music.
Imne is a medieval English word that means a song of praise such as a psalm or hymn. Each of the pieces in Morganstine’s Imne is inspired by music traditionally used for worship, from plainchant to Mennonite hymns and Gaelic psalms, with most being slow moving and highly emotive with an often static, contained quality.
