The man. The meme. The legend. Evan Geltosky (@eg562 aka Sunrise Energy Club) has been using his tremendous design talents to elevate PDX rave-life, both as resident designer @spendthenightpdx and as designer of the Canyon Vibration logo and officially sanctioned meme content. 

As his designs would suggest, he’s got deep crates of psychedelic records. The more ambient of those were used to great effect in his opening set for canyon vibration. Not to worry if you missed it while setting up your tent. Here's the recording

@Orographic is a founding member of Bridge Club, Portland's legendary queer daytime party that inspired our patio-centric approach to Occasion Vibration. His DJ sets and art installations are a fixture in the US queer underground scene, playing (and decorating) Honey Soundsystem, Honcho Campout, Gays Hate Techno, Double Scorpio and more. Rob recently made his European debut playing the Genosys stage at Glastonbury.

s O F T P E A K s (@softpeaksound) dove ears first into the rave scene in 2013 - first and foremost as a dancer known for wild outfits and owning the dance floor. More recently, she has evolved into a gifted DJ with diverse music taste and intuitive mixing skills. Landing in the Pacific Northwest in 2016, she danced her way into the hearts of Portland’s top party crews. Noting the city as being one of the “best incubators ever,” the region is full of talent that has nourished her ears and in turn, given her space to develop her own artistic abilities. During her time here, she worked hard to set down roots with dark, sexy beats that thump until the morning light sparkles and blossoms into soft ambient sounds with moody techno undertones. Her eclectic taste and sense of style derive from following the music that has changed her life.  By trusting her instincts and inner ear, she has had the privilege to meet many magical people and cultivate meaningful experiences while on her quest for the best sounds, dance floors and parties.  Her sound spans many genres including lush, seductive techno, cosmic disco, jump-up house, and minimal tribal beats that just make you want to dance.

As curators and resident DJs for Believe You Me and Your Sunday Best, and consummate collaborators with nearly every other promoter in town, @andydwarren and @ginkgo have played an instrumental role in shaping Portland’s house & techno community over the last 7 years. They have showcased dozens of artists in the Rose City, including Axel Boman, Animal Collective, Roman Flugel, Dorisburg, Octo Octa, Eris Drew, Gonno, & Eddie C. While both talented selectors on their own, there’s a certain magical chemistry that emerges each time these two play together. We're honored to call them close friends and collaborators and loved their set at Canyon Vibration!

@leeonn_bailey is a Portland-based queer DJ, mentor and record collector, originally rooted in Chicago. They have used the last decade of their djing as an exploratory practice in connecting the physical and spiritual through their craft. In their techno-leaning dj sets, emotion and intellect weave through genres intersecting at the core of why we’re here - the feeling of house. In service of the community, Leeonn is a resident DJ with Spend the Night.

For our December mix, OV resident @spencermiles trots out a bunch of new records that he received this month, as well as a few older ones.  

Spencer approached this mix the way he approaches a DJ set: a box of records, a decent idea of the first two tracks, and letting the music guide him from there.  It's unpremeditated, unpolished, and full of character.  We hope you like it!

Dark Entries label boss Josh Cheon joins us from San Francisco for some nautical nonsense to commend the closing of our wintergarden tent:  April 20-21, 2018.

With his label, Cheon has rereleased and remastered some of the best underground italo, electro and new wave tracks of the 80s, and helped resuscitate forgotten treasures like Patrick Cowley's gay porn soundtracks.  @darkentriesrecords also champions contemporary like-minded material from exciting artists such as Bézier, Red Axes, Helena Hauff, Bill Converse, The Hacker, and Looky Looky.

This mix was recorded just before Rona hit us. I met the promoter, Spencer Miles in Berlin while playing maybe one of the best sets of my life with David Muallem at Panorama Bar. Spencer played before us and stayed almost the entire 16 hours of our set. He told me about this little party he threw in Portland for 200 people and asked me to come so I did a few months later. The party was wild. Real. American. Leftists. Intellectual outsider shit and one of the best parties I’ve ever played in America. There was a giant Ouija board on the wall. It was a true freak out. This is part 1 & there's also apart 2 to this mix. All vinyl and me playing some really freaky stuff... A-Z, here to there and a good portrayal of where I was musically before the world changed.
