Ben Soundscape marks his return to Dispatch with an EP fuelled by nostalgia and innovation - four tracks inspired by retro TV and 90s drum and bass, including a collab with liquid veteran Addiction.

Inspired by a beloved TV show from Ben Soundscapes youth, 'Shapeshift' kicks off the EP with a minimal, sub-heavy track with a modern twist, that creates space without sacrificing impact. The clever mixing of dialogue and atmospherics from cherished shows runs throughout the EP. 'You're Finished' features samples from the same show, seamlessly woven into the track's edgy atmosphere, the rhythm of the dialogue complements flowing throughout. 'Skars' draws inspiration from a comedy classic.

'Burnout' completes the EP, a collaboration with Addiction birthed during the COVID lockdowns, standing testament to old-school vibes fused with contemporary energy. Expect thrashing breaks and distorted basslines.

This week I featured local up and comer @mdxx for a live guest mix, and some b2b to finish the show. 

For my new music selections I focussed on some liquid releases in celebration of my packed out Wickid Lickwid event held at Ancient World on the 20th.

The collaborations and remixes come from close friends Meta on "Keep Warm", Vasilisa Jarlier on "Wind" and "Lies" as well as Lincoln, UK based duo Soligen & Type 2 reworking "Lonely Street" into a twisted nipple destroying club edit of the original track.

There is no compromise here, no music aimed at entering popular playlists and definitely not music for the faint hearted. The album delivers with an unquestionable intent and perfectly demonstrates Impish's versatility and his direction in the spectrum of present day drum & bass.

Alongside their solo Sinecore and T-Psy aliases, Sylvain Colmant and Gilles De Ro have been collaborating as Human Error since 2010. With releases on Close2Death, Future Funk Music and Trust In Music and their first album released by Kaiza's T3K imprint in 2012, the duo have been a formidable force on the Belgian scene for some time now. 
Between a busy schedule playing shows all over Europe they have spent the last two years in the studio gathering their best tracks, and now Human Error take their journey to the next level as their sophomore LP 'Intersection' drops on Mindtech.

Roman ‘ Impish ’ is one of the more recent names to emerge from the hotbed of Russian Drum 'N' Bass. The Moscow based producer and DJ has been releasing records since 2008, and has since put his name to tracks on some of the biggest labels in the scene. Initially interested in funk and rock, as soon as he found Drum & Bass he was immediately captivated by the sound and has since mostly focused his music writing around it, releasing a tranche of singles and an album on his own ‘ Occulti Music ’ label, as well as with a raft of others.

With a friend he then started ‘Burning Series’ in Moscow, a monthly drum & bass / breakbeat night famous for its homely atmosphere and vinyl only sets since 2003.

Impish released 3 albums with Vasilisa Jarlier called ‘Silence’ and 'Underwater' which brought together material written over the course of 2008 to 2013. Late 2017 Impish releases his 3rd album the Hush. 'Muted' LP coming out in 2025
