Occupy Columbia is an official student group composed of a coalition of students, staff, and faculty from across the Columbia College community. We meet with others as a coalition concerned about Columbia College Chicago every Tuesday at 5pm, in room 317 of 33 E. Congress, to work together in the struggle for a better Columbia College experience for all. 

Occupy Columbia was started by a small group of students who met through Occupy Chicago, and it is largely modeled after Occupy. We have no leaders, we are non-violent, and we are committed to actively fighting for the interests of Columbia's '99%'. We differ from Occupy, however, in that we have very specific demands which shape our actions.

We demand that the administration:
Freeze tuition immediately
Halt the Prioritization process
Grant full access to the Columbia College budget
End bad faith bargaining and union busting tactics

It is our belief that we, the students, staff, and faculty of Columbia College are the backbone of this school. We have the will, and the power, to make the changes we deem necessary to ensure that Columbia is a place where all can thrive. More broadly, we know that the struggles inside and outside Columbia are connected to those involved in higher education worldwide, and that the particular skills of Columbia students can play a vital role in the creation of real change within and beyond our campus.
