When I first heard the original version of this track I kind of fell in love with it. It's just so relaxed and assured in its songwriting. When I heard it, I knew I wanted to take it to a different place. So I sourced an acapella, and started writing it on my lunch breaks at work starting with the structure and working my way through until I really found something that I was happy with. 

My take on this track is much heavier than the original; as an inspiration I was listen to Slushii's remix of That Poppy's song "Lowlife"; I loved the sugar rush of that track and so I've sort to replicate that here with some of the vocal chops, really chipmonk-y and wildly vascillating in pitch. I think my favourite part is the second drop, which is subtly changed up from the first one with some added samples (see if you can pick the Charlie Puth 'Attention' sample I've thrown in there ;)

All in all I'm really happy with the track, as well as the beautiful artwork that is attributed to my little sister. I think its my best stuff which is good because I put about a month's work into it! Feel free to download and enjoy it!

Oceanland is a producer based in Sydney. Having been born in the rich culture sphere of Newtown, he relocated to the Northern Beaches at the age of 10 and fell in love with the beach. Since the age of 12 he has been forging on various electronic experiments slowly chipping, away at his vision. Oceanland combines an aesthetic of vapid glamour and sinister after dark nous populated with characters whose lives are consumed with desire and desperation, the bright of the day and the cool of the night. A feeling of borrowed nostalgia informs his music, like that of the day after Mardi Gras, the vibe that maybe we missed out on the party so now we have to create our own.

Fusing the sneering songcraft of Bob Dylan and Steely Dan with the subtler points of glam and various 70’/80’s rock and an obsession with futuristic sonics, Oceanland values attention to detail, in both melody and lyrics. A balance between the two, brings real songwriting into the 21st century.
