Here's the final single from Kingdom! Luminous Waves is perhaps the most delicate piece of music on the album. It builds slowly from a gentle breeze into a raging storm until it all calms down again. Still an integral part of Oceanwake's live set that stands out as a perfect example of the many different aspects their music consists of.

We decided to take a trip in to the great unknown by opening our Pori concert with a completely improvised piece of music. Listening to it now confirms the notion we shared on stage - it feels right and natural. Triggered by our recent improv writing sessions for our third* album, this might be the start of something new and exciting.

A big thank you to the resident live sound engineer Jarkko Kivi for doing a marvelous job on the night AND for capturing the whole concert on tape (read: a digital file), thus preserving this moment in time for the future generations to enjoy.

Here's another song from Oceanwake's forthcoming debut album, Kingdom. This lengthy and relentless album closer starts with a sparse arrangement and builds slowly into a colossal doom metal section. Beautiful yet merciless.

OCEANWAKE (Luvia, Finland)

Formed in 2009, this new outfit consists of musicians with somewhat diverse backgrounds. Thus, it's no surprise that they do offer quite a refreshing approach to metal music. 

Based around slow death/doom metal riffs and a notable absence of clean vocals, their material incorporates elements of prog rock, psychedelia, black metal, post rock - even country. So far, "arctic experimental metal" is perhaps the most befitting description of their style of music. But it's best that you check for yourself!

Here is "The Words of Gods Lie Among Us", the first single from their forthcoming debut album "Kingdom". A physical release as a 7" single will follow.
