Heilung is a new project between Kai Uwe Faust and Christopher Juul. Heilung is amplified history from early medieval northern Europe and should not be mistaken for a modern political or religious statement of any kind.

NYTT LAND 'Oðal' CD (CSR249CD)

Siberian band NYTT LAND presents its new epic musical canvas. Working with the same unchanging 4 band-members, the musicians continue to revive the true magical sound of the Ancient North.

Oðal is inspired by the traditional music of the indigenous peoples of Siberia, the Old Icelandic epic and the atmosphere of classic Norwegian black metal.

This time the album was recorded without using samples; all parts of the instruments were performed live. All songs were recorded and mixed in one of the technical quality best Russian studios, "Radio Sibir", which strongly affected the sound quality. All the sounds of nature were recorded in western Siberia and northern Norway.

For the first time the 4-year-old son of Natalia and Anatoly, Yuri Pakhalenko, took part. By this they emphasise the concept of the album - heritage.

As in the previous album, Fimbulvinter (CSR234CD), Oðal features the traditional Siberian overtone singing technique "kargyraa", but the overtone singing by vocalist Natalia Pakhalenko gives a special character to the sound. This is very unique, since this technique is a almost exclusively a male singing practice due to its physicality.

So, it's time to start the path to the roots...

Leif Erikson nicknamed Leif ‘the Lucky’, was a Norse Viking who is best known for being the first European to have set foot on North American soil along with his crew c. 1000 CE. Probably born in Iceland around 970-980 CE, Leif was the son of the famous Erik the Red who set up the first Viking settlement in Greenland in the late 980s CE.

After his father’s death just after 1000 CE, Leif succeeded him as chieftain of Greenland, and because his son Thorkel had succeeded him by 1025 CE it is fair to assume Leif had died by then, though it is unsure exactly when.

Leif’s larger-than-life reputation mostly stems from the 13th-century CE Icelandic Vinland Sagas (the independently composed The Saga of the Greenlanders and Erik the Red’s Saga) which tell the story of how he kitted out the first Norse expedition to Newfoundland and the surrounding areas, in present-day Canada. Here, he discovered, among others, the grapevines that inspired the Vikings’ name for the area: Vinland (Old Norse Vínland, ‘Wine Land’).

Most of what we know about Leif Erikson comes from these two sagas. Importantly, they were not eye-witness accounts but concern events dating to more than two centuries before they were written down. The stories’ similarities and their context, however, do support the idea that they refer to real people and events that were at least partially preserved by means of an oral tradition. The archaeological record offers some help, too: the remains of the Norse settlement credited by the sagas as being founded by Leif have indeed been found in Newfoundland, at L’Anse aux Meadows.

Leif Erikson was the chosen hero of many of the Scandinavians who emigrated to North America around this time. In 1898 CE, a forged rune-stone known as the Kensington Stone popped up in Minnesota sporting an ‘amateurishly concocted inscription supposedly made by fourteenth-century descendants of Viking settlers.’ (Sawyer, 245).

From the archaeological confirmation of a Norse presence in America in the 1960s CE, Christopher Columbus has had to share the stage with the Norse Viking Leif Erikson who beat him to the American punch by around 500 years, and who has been granted his own day in the United States, too: Leif Erikson Day, on October 9th.

Ochelie Soroki participants share a common interest in the culture of the ancient peoples, which is an endless source of inspiration for the music group experiments. The musicians are revealing deep connections of different cultures through music as a universal language.

Musicians assign a special role to the atmosphere 
of their performances: the mesmerizing voice of Uliana Shulepina and Elizabeth Solovieva intertwined with the sound of many ethnic instruments, immersing the listener in a journey through time from our day to ancient ages of the Northern Kingdom.

North. For musicians of "Ochelie Soroki" this word has its sacred meaning. The North, in their view, it is not so much a geographical concept, but rather a Spirit of the earth, a storehouse of ancient knowledge, magical space.


Вдохновением для творчества коллектива является традиционная культура славян и народов Севера, скандинавская мифология и русские народные сказки.

Участников "Очелье Сороки" объединяет интерес к культуре древних народов, что и является бесконечным источником вдохновения для музыкальных экспериментов группы. 
Музыканты идут по пути выявления глубинных связей разных культур через музыку, как универсальный язык.
В репертуаре коллектива собраны композиции, основанные на славянских обрядовых календарных песнях, распевы на древних северо-западных диалектах, в музыкальном оформлении которых звучат отголоски скандинавской мифологии и северные мотивы, в сопровождении этнических инструментов (давул, йоухикко, варган, колесная лира, калюка, бузуки, псалтирь, хакасский бубен, бисерница).

С 2012 "Очелье Сороки" выступает в роли творческой мастерской с одноимённым названием. В марте 2013 года состоялась премьера музыкального спектакля " Сказка про живую Воду".

В 2015 году музыканты Очелье Сороки представили релиз дебютного альбома
под названием "Северное Царство".
